  1.

I can not for the life of me remember what it was called?? May be someone here can remember, it was on back in the 80's I think or early 90's.

    A Country Practise???

Does anyone in the UK get Bondi Rescue yet?

It's a show about the Bondi beach surf rescue crew. Bondi, for those that don't know, is a busy Sydney city beach.

It's astounding how many rescues they do. Sometimes 30 a day. Mostly asians and middle eastern people also a lot of backpackers. Some of them would have surely died without help.

There's lots of buffed boys and girls running around in swimwear, lots of city freaks and the odd shark.

I thought it might be a ratings winner in the UK.

It seems like a Baywatch rip off.

Nah....... it is a reality show.....not a story. Thank goodness for that, you can only deal with one show like Baywatch in a life time!! The life guards are filmed doing their every day jobs. Some of those rescues can be hardcore and we have seen them on the news prior to them being on the show.

  2. The Blue Light Discos are much more of a problem in my humble opinion.

Do they still have blue light discos? I remember going to a few back in the 80's.

ha ha i have no idea. I do not think they still have them. I never went to one. :(

Don't laugh but yes they do and they seem to be making a comeback!! My son went to one the other week......I had a good laugh!! Only seems like yesterday I was going..........

  3. Kabuki 1 is also great for tepanyaki and okonomiyaki. Although it is difficult to get into as you can't reserve unless you have a table of 8 + people. We went really early and were happy we did! I am sure there is another thread where there was talk of great eateries in Kutchan. We had some great food there as well but couldn't tell you where or what they were called. We would just stroll around and go in if there was room. If you want pizza or even cheese fondue??? (so not Japanese) try Yummy's. Shabu Shabu at Sou is also excellent. So that is my 3 "Terry Tourist" Restos in Niseko. Although, you can also go to the retail ready section of the Max Value in Kutchan and grab some great local food and just chill out some nights!

  4. Cool Korbzy. We were insured with 1Cover which as I said before, confirmed in writing that they would cover us off piste but in resort boundaries. This won't help you though as you are going backcountry. I have had a look through past postings and people participating in backcountry either suggest IHI Bupa Global Travel or World Nomads, Level 4 coverage which includes backcountry. These companies are more expensive but will cover you if you need a helicopter to fish out of goodness knows where!!! ;)

I always say people are crazy not to take out insurance when travelling.

I've never heard of this :S and this whole time I have been off doing my own little thing overseas, can you please give me some suggestions on where to look for these extra benefits! it would be MUCH appreciated!

    What do you mean Korbzy?

So im going to Japan for 6 weeks and ill be doing some off-piste riding and I want to be covered of course for this, would I be looking at an extras package that includes off-piste or are there some companies people recommend that normally have it in their general policy. I tired to have a look around the forum for some tips or recommendations but most of them are outdated. sorry for hijacking the OP's thread!

Where are you based Kobzy? When you are looking for a policy just make sure you have unlimited medical and ask the question about being covered for off piste within resort boundaries or back country. Then get it in writing. The insurance cover I took out covered us under their general policy for off piste within resort boundaries.
