good idea when you're learning and stacking a lot, "paying your dues"... would also recommend knee pads

had Black Diamond leather and goretex gloves for the last 3 seasons which were great and still very servicable. warm and i never had them wet out on me. this season i splurged and got leather Hestra 3-finger gloves which have been awesome so far. need to go back to japan for further glove testing...

Brilliant Vid Mike Pow. What runs & areas at Rusutsu did you capture that footage?
yes, I'd also like to know if you would be so kind as to share

The trees on either side of the King Triple at Hirafu, preferably when it's puking down. Thought night skiing was rubbish before I first tried it. Now I think daylight skiing is second rate.
for sure !

thanks for the info. on my last trip, i was constantly staring at that face coming off Hanazono 1 chair trying to figure out how to get to it!

Man this thread is giving me serious withdrawals... I'm considering an emergency trip to Niseko 16 march to 23 - any idea what conditions I could expect ?

I received my pass and have used it. Many thanks for the prize ! Unfortunately, I'm now back in a very sad place named Reality and I am being punished for spending 12 days stuffing my greedy face with pow. I will have a report up with pictures just as soon as I can.

Woot !!! Thanks SnowJapan !!!
Will definitely put the prize to good use when I'm there in approx 1 week !

sorry to threadjack a bit...
BUT - does anyone know where i can buy a map ? I'm in Niseko in Jan and my accommodation includes a car which does not have GPS so I will be needing an old-fashioned paper map to get around.
many thanks !

Does anyone have any info about these bindings or have any personal experience using them ?
http://item.rakuten.co.jp/sidecar/71151/
I see a lot of local riders using them... but all the info I can find on the internet is in Japanese.

does anyone know the emergency number for Niseko ? Just in case...
The Grand Hirafu map gives Ski Patrol's number as 0136 22 2167 (you may need to use +81 136 21 2167 if calling from a foreign phone). http://grand-hirafu....in/gelande.html
If that doesn't work try one of the standard emergency numbers (110 for police or 119 if for fire & medical).
thanks very much !
good to know but hope i won't need to ever use them
