Says me , who hasn't posted any photos. I am off to work for 5 days but when I get back I will post a couple of my own.

Just have to work out how to do it.

I gather I have to move them out of the pictures folder to somewhere else before I can post them. I will read SJs instructions again.

Just got a little harder to fly to Japan and for that matter Minty , Christchurch ,as good old Qantas has suspended flights to both destinations [ No mention for how long].

The guess is these will be serviced by Jetstar only in the future[ or " going forward' in economic speak.]

The only thing that would deter me from returning to Japan next season , would be a too strong yen, given the weakness of the US dollar it makes a US trip more attractive.

The current situation in Japan would however make me keener to return and support the economey.

My time in Niseko has wound down and I am off to Kyoto tomorrow. It has been an awesome season and I have met a ton of great people, some of which are on this site. Magseven, Sand, Mamabear, TropicalPow, GoNative, Softlandings, SlipperyJim, are just a few who come to mind. All awesome people and I look forward to seeing them again.
Great to meet you to MP. Have really enjoyed your posts. Keep in touch with us all thru SJ site if you can. I will get that ski in with you one day, be it in Japan , Utah or elsewhere. You are a great young bloke, the future of skiings in good hands. Cheers

Griller, dead right, wonder if they thought of sticking around and offering their host a hand. Moving your family a safe distance from radiation danger fair enough , but but leaving Niseko !!!

I agree with all the previous comments . The way the Japanese people have conducted themselves is a real credit and something we westerners can learn from.

 

As you have said muikabochi,you would think this would be normal human behaviour ,but in western culture it seems to be the oposite.

During the cyclone yasi evacuations in Cairns there were reports of people putting up barricades around their spots on the floor of a shopping centre being used for shelter. People were also reportedly hoarding the food that was coming out of the eateries in the centre.

It's that me mentality ,rather than thinking of the greater good.

 

These are very stressful situations no doubt ,but watching how the Japanese conduct themselves is very heartwarming.

This year I was at Niseko mid Jan to Feb and missed all the queing Skiwi experienced. Longest I waited was 10 mins on Hirafu gondala but mostly straight on and off lifts.

 

Zero queing at the fabulous Moiwa.
