well, try to contact Martin Sammet of pogo and book a test for the next year:D
You can test for a weekend for fee (you have to pay only the shipping cost for return the board) of with 100€ you can test the board for a week!
-
no, i've ride the L80, is a longoboard type.
In powder is a beast but is more allaround board.
Of this model they do l70, 170cm, 24.8 waist, 7.5mt radius
People that i know have bought a pogo are very satisfied, they have buy the board 10years ago and during this time they've change all their edges and the top of the board.
-
i've ride the l80 longboard (in europe you can write to their email and then they send you the board you want to test).
180cm, quite narrow, these board have frontback (you must drive pushing on your frontfoot for accellerate and on your backfoot for brake).
Really amazing board, lighter, responsive, and they offer you a free lifetime repair service (top, back and edges).
You can check the DUPRAZ d1, is wider that pogo boards, but same concept, frontback, longboard and now you can buy at their online shop for 540euro!

nice pic!
[OT] what board is the grey one on the right? [/OT]

HA! I think I´ve just convinced myself to buy a long swallowtail.
I reckon if the nose floats out, it will be easier to swing it.
And imagine being able to go thru flat section - would it?
I really wish that the snowboard manufactures design boards by the weight range, not by sex. Would be cool if you can choose your topsheet design. I really like the clear woody look, too.
when i've read your words the first thing i've think is: POGO SNOWBOARD:D -
you think will be good for deep powder?
Next year she come with us to niseko for a month and the perfect board is an obligation:D
For BC she has a splitboard, so we're looking for a specific powder board
-
She normally ride a 149, she's a great controll of the board, she like woods and open bowls, for this reason i'm asking if something long will be great (another option is a volkl selecta 158).

Still looks fun though! good job!
that weekend was quite shure, they've make some controlled avalanche and there not too much avi risk (in evey case i've with me probe, shovel, ortovox, rope and ax).
And with us there was a great friend-gui that show us dangers and where to pass.
If you love the mountain is a great experience:D -
Thank's mulkabochi:D
There was a spring snow and some hundred of people hike the mountain, the great think is hiking and climbing, nothing special the descend.
But in winter the terrain is really steep, many drop and open space.
In niseko... well the snow i've find in niseko i've not found in any other place on the earth... and for that reason the next winter i'll be again in niseko!!!
The next goal is "Capanna Margherita", on the same place but at 4550 mt!
I think in the next week i'll able to post this new report:D

Hi,
with this post i would like to share my splitboard-hike of 10-04-2011 to the beautifoul Monterosa - Alagna - Piemonte (Italy).
Our goal was "Colle del Lys (4200mt)" but we've time trouble at the start of the day and we've arrived a bit under, at "Colle Vincent (4050mt)".
We've start from alagna, take three gondola-funifor until "Indren Glacier".
Beautifoul weather, no clouds!!! Me and my girlfriend have dress our splitboard and other 4 friends their skis. Let's start!!!
This photo is of "Grifetti groove", many people in climbig! the final piece is very steep (40 and 45°).
We decide to take on his left (normal route Gnifetti) a cross, after about twenty minutes we put boards and skis on the backpack and climb over the first rocks with the help of a rope that is already present, and then go on another long crosswalk , climbing over some other rocks.
In this cross-walk both were insured with a rope on harness.
After the traverse we made a small and simple climbing that has led us to the shelter Mantova.
In the firs pic my friend Luca, after a pictuer of mine, and the last was the terrace of Mantova refuge.
From here we hike to a beautiful valley and on the left we've find refuge Gnifetti (3647mt), and in front of us the beautifoul show
We continued (on the left of the photo above) on this "hill", whose summit was our goal
Here are just below our goal (my and my girlfriend), with the "Piramide Vincend (4215mt) behind us.
and this fantastic seracs
At about 14:10 we assemble the splitboard drop back down to the Mantova
in the company of some crevice friends, but in this period are really few and easy to see
We had to make a hideous cross to bring us back to the first valley and arrive intime to take the last cablecar that bring us back in the country.
Below some pictures of the rocky passages:
This is some panorama shoots:
Back in town we enjoyed our sandwich and go to home to have a big rest: D
Happy FeeRide to all!!!

Great choice pete!
I've a question: for a girl, 168cm x 48kg it's indicate a fish 156 or she can handle a 150(2010 s-rocker fish 150cm)?
She's looking only for a powder board.
Thank's!

Dolomites in defo on the radar.
Things happen ... still time till Easter.
is snowing now in Piemonte, On saturday Alagna FreerideParadise will be a really cool place! -
hi tex,
this year really poor powder in italy, but in swiss the situation is good (my mountain house in near swiss border).
I've mentionet x1 beacuse i've test two days in niseko deep powder, the convex is like TBT but only on the nose, + the board has a powder rocker, lighter and superfastboard. I'm fall in love with that shape.
I've not try the other board and i'm asking some opinion for this reason.
I would like to buy a specific powder board for get the max enjoy in powder day with no compromise:D

This japa board is like a Nitro slash with a Fish tail. Too expensive!
You will have to ask yourself this. Is the board for powder in trees only?
I will not buy a board with 26 cm waist. I wear size US7.5 If you have big feet like US 10, your toe is close to the edge so no problem.
I will go for length than width anytime, and more importantly that it has a big maximum stance width (example 26) so I can move my bindings.
I ride a 159 Atomic Radon CT (swallow tail) and it has 22 inch max stance, and I ride it with that widest setup. I wish there were more holes.
I think the advantage of Hovercrafts, The Fish, etc, is that you can get on a 160 size board and it will be easier in the trees. You can swing it around. All these boards have something in common. Wide Nose, wide waist, big setback. They all have similar design. Maybe the nose shape and rocker is slightly different but I don´t think it makes a big difference.
The problem I have with such a big setback is that there are times I want to step on the front and the board is too short the nose will dive. Also the tail sinks so it brakes the board a bit (can be an advantage). So If this is slowing me down, instead I can have a narrower, longer, faster base and that will give me more float.
There are things I like and don´t like about the big setback. But the swallow tail I like.
If you are doing Europa Alps, I probably choose something else...
like Amplid Creamer. Bit like NS Summit.
I heard the tail catches with Völkl Selecta because of the channel.
But you know what´s best for you and how you will use it. So all of this is just my rave.
I´d like to have an all mountain board that handles powder very well. I am even thinking of getting a custom splitboard from Prior because I have a design that I really like (nose width. waist, taper, sidecut radius)
Hi Jynxx
i'm not agree with all mountain philosopy: in this years i've had and try many AMs board but they don't excel in any condition.
I've sell last year my splitboard, yes is not bad for the climb, but i don't like the descent (burton splitboard 165).
the feeling of the descent with a powder board is another thing I'm looking for a powderboard, not a freeride board.
I'm 180cm x 68kg, I've 28.5 (salomon f22 fusion) and the japan board i've test were 25.2 waist (165 board lenght) is very quick response, but i know 25.2 is not 26, i've try on an AM board, but i don't know how affect the response into the powder -
Hi all,
as i mentionent in my trip report i've reat a japanese powder board, Field Earth Design, mod x1 (165cm).
I love this board, i've ask at rent shop and they sell my that board with 4 rents at 100.000YEN (new is something like 126.000YEN).
I can spend this money but in italy there are condition to use often this board.
I can buy a new jones hovercraft for 250euro (27500YEN) but i've never test this board and in italy no test day for this.
For a few +money i can take a volkl selecta 163.
Like FieldEart i'm searching a light board with a fast base, fish profile and quick edge change (for tree run).
Anyone has try that two board?
Jones on the paper seems very good, but i don't know about the weight... i don't know how a blunt nose goes in powder and... i don't know if 26cm of waist is too much for quick response.
I've a YES Snowboard, nidecker manufactur like jones and the quality is really high.
Selecta seems more similar to field earth but the jones price is really tempting....
Tips? :-)

Every day i'm watching niseko now and dreaming the past powder turns :-(

Now i'm self learning japanese language and looking for some value course.. so the next year i'll be able to read what i'm taking at restaurant:D
