  1. I was skiing with my wife a 2 guests/friends that were about to leave. Man did they get lucky and the season ended for them on a bang. I saw you with your pole I think you were skiing with a girl but that is hard to tell as it was a face mask kind of day. Are we allowed to use the bottomless term? I mean after that lighting really set up the kurobishi bowl between 2 and 3pm and there were about 15 of us lapping it up in the storm. LOL

  2. A few years ago I put together a March Madness video. Basically Powder in March and lots of it. This season though has blown my mind with so much snow in March and now into April. Another Storm today which has brought around 20cms of snow so far again. Im calling this season the never ending one. I expected my March school break to be a few powder days with a few peak bagging days. Well I bagged no peaks and skied only powder either at Happo or Above Tsugaike. 3 vids to come as they get uploaded to SJTV. Vids are powder bigones and a few crazy pillow areas that were all time the best ive ever seen them!

  3. The 2 days Saturday and Sunday had different problems which you have identified. Saturday saw a mix of new snow on a thin ice layer in the upper regions.

That ice layer changed to a bonded layer but a very small section to the isothermic layer that was very unstable. On Saturday I had my best turns on

low angle widely spaced trees or lift lines. Sunday say the snow change due to 2 maybe 3 factors. The temps dropped and the snow pack started to change buried

surface hoar into facets. The there was either a wind layer or an evaporation layer that had a 10 to 40cms thick slab. On top of that was more light snow with more

surface hoar. Fun times to be outside of the ropes not!

Nice sunshine powder day today yet im still in my office doing almost nothing.

  4. That was funny thanks for the laugh. To each his own I guess. Much of the reason I choose Hakuba was to enjoy the mountains and the BC or easy access stuff. With 3 kids I can say that I do tend to take less risks. Also with money not a problem anymore invested in pretty much all the latest and greatest gear the airbag system. Now that isnt going to make it much safer but I think I owe it to my family to at least try to take less risks.

  5. Yesterday was hell but today I feel much better. I was stupid really stupid. I climb many mountains every year and that I forgot or refused to ask a friend for sun screen once I knew I was being burned is beyond stupid. Anyways looks like this Sunday might be another good day to get some footage. Mid to high alpine season has begun. Cold weather for honshu returns in 2 days freeze levels around 800 meters plus or minus a few hundred meters. Watch out for glide cracks!

  6. Did 3 lines out the back of Happo on Sunday. the last line didnt record so oh well. Forgot to put on sun screen and im paying for it big time. Still great snow for 90% of the runs. Almost sluffed myself on the second line when I didnt feel the snow was good enough to straight line out of the bottom chute. Just pulled over in time. I included pics of the lines just so that you could get an idea.
