They do it is american and they get a post office box. The forces dont charge overseas shipping to them. For example some places will ship for free to an APO/FPO or the charge is the price of shipping to California. The other nice thing for them is no import tax troubles

it is the armed forces bases

Backcountry ships in a timely fashion what skis are you looking for? I have some super big baords Im selling that may fit the bill on a cheaper budget rather than ordering more skis.

Ok this is going to be harsh but here goes.
Ippy Tommy Australia is not my responsibility in an Internet forum. I'm more than happy to share lines with people if I meet and ride with them. A rope is there for a reason whether you judge it to be right or not. As well you can not judge a persons level until you ride with them. Your thread is assuming what is safe or why patrol may do something rather than having real facts. You don't even know what areas patrol would even consider a rescue in as well. There are more factors than your patrol aggro level or or that rope means nothing go ahead duck it. You are not qualified to make those judgements. You aren't Patrol, You haven't worked in avalanche control, I doubt you have an internationally recognized guide ticket. Your lack of what can and cant be opened is flawed, as you have really showed no idea whata terrain trap is.
It is important to share information but it is more important to insure that information shared is shared with people that can actually safely use that
information. Skiing isn't a gimme sport. It is a sport in which mistakes have consequences. This sport requires patience and time. If you aren't willing
to put in that effort then you are in the wrong sport or you should stick witin the ropes. It takes years to gain knowledge and quite frankly that knowledge cant not be processed in one
post. Being in uncontrolled terrain takes time, knowledge and education. None of that can be accurately given away through a forum based rope ducking
system.
Again if you want to ride uncontrolled terrain without putting in the time, support the areas that do put forth an effort to give you uncontrolled terrain in a safe way. Trust me this works. Happo cut down trees this year to combat people going to Cortina. It is on the trail map now. Support resorts, don't endanger people by giving them amateur information it will get people hurt or worse killed.
And last but not least imagine and this could happen.Tommy and Tammy Aus slide off of Nozawa. Tommy gets killed the patrol asks why were you there.
Tammy answers we were told that Nozawa patrol don't care and really only rope off this area for no reason because there are some cliffs somewhere. I
personally can not live with that.

Have to say that is pretty cool.

Im not attacking im trying to write in a way that isnt.
Why does everything have to come for free. Before the internet people learned how and where to ride by learning and exploring. You are talking about rope ducking and giving people information beyond a rope. And you basically helped my point about how little you do know. How does that encourage me to tell you to watch out for a hundred foot cliff in the nozawa trees or where it is? Seriously Im not there day to day nor can judge the conditions on certain days. Meet people talk to them explore safely with friends. Do so knowing that in Japan you must self rescue. Talk to patrol outside of being caught most of them will tell you the real reason why something is closed. And the best way to change things is this. Go to resorts that promote off piste skiing. Go to Charmont Cortina Niseko, go to the cat skiing operation outside of Nagano city. Ski 47s trees out so fast that they are forced to open more by shere numbers. Slackcountry as you term it should be left for people to judge for themselves.

I do not hold any view to protect any line. This Forum is used as an information gateway for many holiday makers which tend to be in the mid range level. I have met many SJ people and I'm not trying to insult but they aren't avi savvy advanced skiers. That is my opinion and I'm not trying to insult anyone. This forum is not populated by professionals in the ski industry (ie patrol owners SAR) to a large degree.
If you want to ride the terrain buy a map and study it. You will see what is there and what isn't. I don't think trusting someone on an Internet for holiday makers is the way forward nor is it going to push a resort to, "properly mark their boundaries". There are more factors than you think. Are the staff even trained to open such an area. You don't know so why suggest that this rope means nothing. Hey go ahead duck it the patrol only get angry at level 2 on the aggro scale. In fact in the grand picture most of Japans best lines lay in huge terrain traps that no resort in the world would open anyways. Your Nozawa information of 3 ridges of terrain traps is a great example of how much you really don't know.
There is a certain moral responsibility that goes with telling someone where to slide. To say that there isn't and that you are just posting numbers really is not true. You are giving people information that they may/or should have learned on their own. Not because it has to be kept secret but because they aren't ready to make that decision yet. Riding in uncontrolled terrain has risks at anytime whether there is a gate or not. This is Japan for better or for worse. The systems in place at resorts may or may not be at an international standards and for the most part you just don't know. Go ask Noz how many patrol they staff for the day. Maybe then you wont encourage people to duck rope AB and C.

This is kind of a cheat sheet that could get someone hurt. There are many reasons for the ropes. Many times it is because the resort is not renting the land on the other side of the ropes. I for one duck a few ropes but Im not going to tell the internet where. I dont trust a person untill I ski with them so why give away a slightly dangerous area to someone who doesnt understand the risks. Sorry Ippy but this is by far one of the stupidest and most dangerous posts I have ever seen on an internet site where the average riding level is in the mid range. If you feel the need to make a post like this maybe TGR is a better place. Other than that I would hope that this would just be deleted by the creator.

My taste in music is quite sad

The reasons I choose those are this. Nozawa has a life after skiing or riding. The town itself can make a holiday if you love an old feel to your ski resort.
Myoko hard to fault the shear volume of snow they stack up come January. They lack the BC options of Hakuba and the courses arent really that steep but
the trees go off if you know where to look. Again seeing people struggle to save there houses daily because of the snow is a bit of a turn on. Furano is sort
of Niseko east. Less snow but man it can play big. The trees are good and the town is set up and you can enjoy yourself after skiing. Also lots of options
if you rent a car or take a bus tour. There are other places of course but there in general are catering more to overseas tourists now and can deal with them
in a reasonable way.

Yanaba is quite the trip on the train though, You realistically need a car to make it worth your while.
If you miss the last train a Yanaba you are taking a 100 dollar taxi home or hitch hiking.
Yanaba has made a kids slope indoors for parents and really youngling lessons. About 5 meters in
length but its warm and the kids wont get bored in the lodge.
-
My ranking for you would go Nozawa, Myoko, Furano Those would work.
