  1. We do alot of big renovations ourselves every year. For really good inslulation and proper good paints, carpets etc we shop online. The selection is quite good. For wood and basic stuff like screws we just use komeri in town. Also when we want some things we go ask a building company to order stuff as well. You pay more for some stuff but they have access to way better materials.

  2. Ive dug down at the top of happo and there is more snow than 150cms base up there. The rule isnt the snow the rule is the bush has to be covered on the piste run. Some years if the snow pushes the bushes down early the resort can fire up the lift. We had quite the year for rain so I wouldnt be surprised if the bushes were a bit higher. This year has seen light snow and quite cold weather for Hakuba in general. Like most places in Japan I have skied powder every day that ive skied and Ive only skied at Happo so far. Also have been putting down some great lines in the BC and slack country as well. As for me keep the top lift closed it keeps the good stuff that much better.

  3. The question becomes what do you want to ski? Do you want to hike a bit and ski some nice back country or have the a better chance to have lift access powder? All of Japan has a chance to get a few big storms through all of March but Honshu will have many more high pressure days. The back country is more like the alps in places like Hakuba. But again ask yourself that important question and your can answer your own question easily.
