  1.

You know, Changing your user name to MIJ was a good move. Always thought Robdumm or Smartarse suited you better.

How many times have I told you to ignor me and you come back with this crap about positive and constructive.

whf do you think you are. Too many beers pickled your brains or what?

Really? That's your retort. Crikey, the German sense of humour is really rubbing off on you isn't it?

Who am I? I am someone that supports this site and the snow industry in Japan. I'd like to think that sometimes I help people who come over here to enjoy the snow industry.

    Who are you?

Back on topic, pound yen at 126.

If another month of trade deficit occurs, will it get worse?

    Jim Carry in Cable guy.

    JEEEEERRRRRRRKK OFFF

  2. Most of the Aussies I've met this season haven't been concerned about the current exchange rate or cost of visiting Japan as they all say its still cheaper having a ski vacation here than back in OZ. If it was too high they may be encouraged to head to the U.S, Europe or Canada but for a lot the distance and cost of flights puts them off.

In regard to Ski visitors I prefer a reasonably strong yen as from my personal experience it helps to keep the idiots away. When the $AUS was stronger than the yen about 4 seasons ago a number of groups were visiting who seemed to be here just to get drunk, party and fight rather than enjoying the snow. Seems to be a better balance now with the with pissheads going to Bali to party and leaving the people who really want to experience the snow coming here.

I think that is the sentiment of most Japanese people. Unless you were a Japanese exporter.

Tourism for Japanese is big, The Industry would like the Japanese to travel domestically. But foreign tourism is not something that the Japanese reled on or will rely on. Maybe with the aging community that might change, Geriatric care will become a major industry imo.

Japan makes its Yen by raw material import processing and exporting. S.Koreans have exceeded and are on top now.

The prioriy now and the next 10 years will be recovery and reconstruction from the Quake and that is connected to tied with the economic recovery.

I can´t understand at one moment they seemed to be so concerned about Japan and next it´s about the exchange rate jsu because they want to have an advantage as to what they can buy or go travelling.

  3. I do wonder if you had a few too many bashes to the head. Perhaps you should have spent those skydiving dollars on some better head protection so your train of thought would be understandable and your comments coherent.

While you may think that exchange rates do not affect you, as well, you probably haven't been yo Japan in centuries, those that travel here on holiday do need to know. The dollar/yen may be the biggest in the news, the rembini and Ozzie dollar are pretty important to the tourist industry in Japan.

We're not talking about coffee prices here, that shows a great amount of ignorance there, but rather tens, or if not hundreds, of thousands of yen.

exchange fluctuations can be the determining point whether someone comes to Japan or goes elsewhere.

If you do not have anything constructive or positive to say, why not just ignore the thread?

  4. What you And most Westerners don´t understand is that there are no humane wars. War is about genocide to some cultures. You kill the bloodline because there will be revenge. The Japanese and Arabs know this concept well. Revenge killing was a licence that was given In Japan. There are no quarter given when it comes to war. The army that looses are hunted down.

Japan does not conduct tribal warfare like American Indians or Aboriginies. You kille 3 of our men so wil kill 3 of yours and we go home.

No one who when to war in Japan expected to return alive. The honourable discharge was death. Who is caught as a pow is not worth any respect. In a war that Japn fought those days, the strategy is use local and captured resource. Meaning any pow is a drain on the food supply. Consider that USA deserve no respect in the manner that they conduct war. They are an army that relies on carpet bombing. It is only recent that dropping bombs on top of citizens indiscriminate is a no no. You can argue that they had no targeting capabilities but we are talking attitude to killing here.

BTW you don´t have Japanese parents. My wife is German. It happens that my dad was in the war and so was my grand dad ( Borneo)

In me and missus´ family we have some shared history to talk about.

You weren´t there when it happenened, were you

So whf are you talking about. Who is talking nonsese :wakaranai:

  5. Wow.

That is the biggest propaganda bullshit that I ever heard lol.

Serves as a good example that people can be fed any pictures to justify a purpose and they will eat it.

You don´t seem to understand the war between Japan and the US was a war of hate. On both sides, they didn´t care if they were mass slaughtered.

That was the general feeling amongst people.

The European front between Germans and US were a different history.

The guilt that the Japanese carry is probably more about how the Japanese society changed after the war.

Also towards the Chinese and Koreans about things during the time of war. Something they cannot make admission as a nation. Sensitive issue.

You don´t understand the BURAKU MONDAI during the late 70s. O-haski Kyosen has contributed big time and now things are better.

You ask a 20 yo Japanese now and thing are cool. You ask people over my age and you will get a different response.

We were at a running battle with Korean students back then. Things got nasty. They acted like the untouchables.

I feel pretty bad about what happened then.

My dad stills feels guilty when he is with a Korean person.

So clapp it Tubbs. Whaddaya know anyways.

  6. Globalisation happened since 2000 BC.

Jesus probably went to India in his days.

You guys are talking 10% fluctuation on an amount that is less than 5G. and for something that is a pretty even price across boarders. Sure there are over rated currency like Brit pound but in essence, coffee 3 dollars, 3 Euro, 300 Yen, nothing to fuss about.

Back in the 70´s being a teenager and living in Japan paying 300 - 360 to a dollar and paying 400000 yen for a return trip to Australia.

    Travelling was expensive.

Cost of imported products was like ... Geez, it must be only for show to pay for something like that !

You guys aren´t coming from South America or S.E Asia. Can´t understand the fuss.

  7. I am in the opinion that WW2 has never ended. It has just stretched out to regional conflics and past alliances changed. However national interests have never changed . So any history told is based on the teller. Also people want to believe in certain stereotypes of war history. Bradly writes a good version called The Imperial Cruise. Coming from an American, it is refreshing - balances things out.

What is interesting and long lasting are the effects of the war in a particular country.

Japanese and German are ingrained with guilt. Americans? I don´t see much guilt in them for dropping 2 atomic bombs.

I lived in England as a kid and that was just 18 years after the war. People had very fresh memories about the war. England is one of those places you don´t wanna be if you are a kid. Worse if you are a jap or black back then.

  8. I think you need a change. Obviously you like teaching and you can always get back to that. I´d like to go back to teaching when I´m 60.

If you are moving every 2 years, why not just move all the time? Be a bum. Live out of a van. Fish and hunt. Paying rent is a killer!

I can survive being out of the grid and happy not living in a faraday cage (most house and apartments)

The catch22 is how to get the extra money to do stuiff like snowboarding.

mmm.. that doesn´t help you much.

If there is a will, there is a way .. here we go

  9. On the subject of beer. Does anyone like it when they first drink it when they are a teen? Or is it just a to be cool thing? I remember hating it.

I hate it. Even now. It just taste like vitamin B tablets and it stinks.

I don´t like fizzy drinks either. I hate coke.

People don´t seem to understand when they offer me beer and then ask me if I´d like a coke instead.

  10. :)

wow.. not a bad idea. shaping channels on the surfboard is not a new idea, but no one thought about that to use for snow and put p-tex in between. Plus that flexible fin. Back to single fins, oi ...

No reason to think that it won´t work in water.

But sure does pick up a lot of bumps on the mountain. Made me think - I should just go with it when things are bumpy !

Will I ride one of them? Probably not. I´m not a surfer any more.

It is an inspiration for me cos I am making my own board ... Wish carbon was a bit cheaper.
