  1. I was married to my First on the banks of Swan in the late 80´s.

My impression of Perth was like... wow a forgotten British coloney in the middle of wupwup, and geez there are so many flies...

They all speak with a slight pommy accent... so many boats,... and so many people in the shopping plaza.

wow, there is a nudist section on the main beach !

mmm... the colour of the ocean is different.

  2. No I haven't.

How many ways can you ride a skateboard?

I had a go on one of those battery skateboards, only in the shop though. If you get the lithium batteries, you can go 30+ km/h for over an hour.

Saw nippers on a snakeboard. those wiggly things.

I was very impressed ! Kids these days are amazing when it comes to sports.

  3. They are called Freeboards.

I´d argue that comparing different tracks and what´s more similar to a snowboard is moot.

I do think the added casters are going to be a learning experience. I don´t butter when I´m on snowboard so it´s not something I look for.

I haven´t worked out how to put youtube vids on so ...

  4. NEVER RIDE FASTER THAN YOU CAN RUN... Geez that I find difficult to do unless it´s on a flat surface. On an incline it will go faster and it feels natural to do so. At the moment I drag the sole of my sneakers to slow down... thinking of getting a glove and rapping my arm with padding. I try picking a road that has grass area on the side so I can bale out.

  5. I´d really like to nail the slide - to brake and cotroll speed.

the smoothness of surface acts differently on the board from road to road, and the wheels you have on it.

    Finding a place is gold.

Ideal is a incline that runs from train station to train station. Skate one way, hop back on a train like you have a day ticket ...

  6. Yeah. Missus and I like longboarding. Check out Silverfish dot com for info.

I really like it. Sometimes we go on a night mission. I also like it when I get pulled along by a bicycle or something...

I go shopping to the local shops on it if I need something quick.

It´s a pintail. but the tail is really just for show. Missus reckons it will be more practical if the pin tail is cut down and curled up so we can brake.

Our track is a cheapie so it wobbles when it goes fast. Just good for pumping and cruising.

I suggested mick to get one and ride fakie on it. That´s how I ride it cos I find pumping easier that way, and what it did after a few years is that I can ride a snowboard switch much easier and never really practiced on it.

  7. I think there has been really big changes in the last 5 year in the world.

One is weather for sure. I´ve experienced climate change in Munich. I reckon OZ is a different place from when I use to live in North coast NSW.

Well. if a butterfly can change the world weather, I´m sure Perth is mamabear´s fault. . Munich is mine.

We started the wacky packy, what to leave and what not, scavaging for boxes, etc. Plan to hit the frog and toad in about a month, we reckon. See if we can scam a plane for our belated wedding pressie from my parents.

My better half is stoked. We are giddy. She´s gone bonkers and it´s great.

It´s taken us nearly 6 years since we met and we wanted to live together in Australia.

  8. I just don't like the direction OS X and Apple software has been heading on the computer front.

Very valid point. I feel that way too.

But that comes from people who has a considerable experience (time) using the machine and had to pay for it yourself.

I am more interested in the applied physics of the computer, and I don´t see such a big difference in the OS we are using other than the click or the keystrokes.

Back in ´98 I had no choice but to use Mac and Silicon graphics at the physics department, Windowas Nt and RedHat Linux at Maths dept, Unix at engineering ...and learn c+ and Java.

Difference in OS is not the problem It´s the program that runs on it is, meaning, there is no point in talking computers when you don´t have ab idea in what and how use will be using it.

The computer came with my education but I didn´t have to pay for it, just my time wasted on it. The disappointment will come when you have invested on a system and the direction of the OS or the software you have purchased is heading in the direction that you feel you have been ripped off - I don´t know how to describe it.

  9. I don't mind it so much. However my biggest gripe it just will not power me through the day especially if I'm skiing or biking.

That´s why I go for porrige. Or rice. Slow releasing... doesn´t make you hungry after 2 hours.

Kind of an art, eating, that is. How much and what to eat so you don´t get stuffed, heavy and sleepy, But gets you the energy.

I always remind myself, you use energy to digest ..

  10. Aussie Government is really tightening up at the moment I believe.

    Good luck Mrs Jynxx.

BTW, Mrs got her partner migration visa today. I´m giddy :D

Pity it didn´t come sooner. Looks like we will be in Japan but will miss out on the snow.

It certainly has been a strange year for snow in Europe, from where we live.

Big dumps on short and less frequent occations does not measure up with constant snow fall over a longer time.

Total snowfall desn´t mean much in terms of - you are there and you get freshy everyday. Not everyone want chest deep and are

contended with knee deep, but constant availability. Powder supermarket yay!

  11. A lot of Japanese would avoid the rice and miso breakfast and go for the toast and coffee/tea.

IMHO bread in Japan (so as in Australia) is like cardboard. No substance, fluffed white bread.

Always amazed with the same ol´ type of white/ wholemeal bread filling up the whole aisel in a supermarket. Bakery is pretty crap, too.

    and overpriced.

When I leave Germany, I will miss the bread here.

BTW, I like porridge in the morning.

Denny´s breakfast isn´t that bad in Japan.
