  1. Kumapix, have you contributed anything to this thread? Nah, didn't think so. Where is all this negativity coming from? I was just posting here to help out a mate.

BTW, you are dead wrong about no restrictions for domestic takkyubin. Here is the link for domestic service in English and in Japanese (you'll have to type in the locations to get this one to work). Please notice that it clearly states 3 sides totalling 160cms.

For International delivery in Japanese and in English you'll notice that it gives exactly the same calculation of 3 sides totalling 160cms.

As I said before, no harm in calling Kuroneko and having them come out to your place to check that the sizes are alright.

  2. Andy, thinking about a mid march trip as it looks like the season here isn't going to offer too much in the way of good snow from here on out.

Kumapix, the point that both xilr8 and I were trying to get across is that there is a 160cm restriction for domestic shipping (as well as international shipping), which seems to be a guideline and not a rule as we both got away with shipping more. That's why I encouraged AB to give them a call and see what he can work out! No harm in trying, right?

  3. AndyB, call up the kuroneko guy and have him swing by to measure the bag you are sending. I know this sounds redundant if your bag is bigger but I sent my stuff from Shizuoka to Niseko in Dec/Jan and was sure that my stuff would break the 160cm mark (my bag alone is 165cm in length). There was no problems at all and no extra charge. Of course, things will be different for international deliveries but it's worth a try anyway as the dude will come to your place and do the measurements for free...

Anyway, isn't $700NZ like Y2000 by now? rollabout

BTW, you had much of a chance to ride that fish of yours? I was able to use mine almost everytime I was out this season! smile

  4. I say go to Hokkaido. In my experience, when we have the kind of the season we are having in Nagano/Niigata area things tend to end quickly here. I'm actually considering a trip to Niseko mid-March myself after what I witnessed at a few of my regular resorts (in Niigata) last weekend. Unless there are some really epic snowfalls soon (highly doubtful) I won't be heading back to Niigata this season.

Don't get me wrong, I've been lucky with some really great conditions but I have the luxury of being able to make day trips and get random days off when we are blessed with snow.

Good luck! Hope you get some great days!

  5. NIK22,

Suginohara is a great place for boarding but I also feel that way about Akakura Kanko. It's a toss up for me because both have some pretty fun and not so dangerous tree runs (I find Suginohara is a little busier than Akakan and lunch isn't as good). Unfortuantely, the weekend of Feb28 - Mar1 one of the better runs will be closed at Akakan for some kind of competition. That would mean that Suginohara will probably be busier than it usually would otherwise.

  6. Fujiten by train is only accessible from Kawaguchi-eki (station) which means you have to get to Matsumoto or Tokyo first, this would be a really bad option. C et L, are you driving or taking the train? By train you will have a really hard time finding anyway to get a ski in if you have only one day to travel between Nagoya and Tokyo. The shinkansen (bullet train) between Nagoya and Tokyo runs through Shizuoka (where I live) and the only place to ski locally here isn't worth getting off the train for. We don't have winter here in Shizuoka and it has only ever snowed 1 time in the 5 years that I have lived here!!
