JTB. No kidding. They turned up at my best mates school and started spamming everyone with their winter holiday stuff. We were supposed to go to Korea for the february bank holiday and she said "hey ipps, wanna go snowboarding instead? these guys just came to my school..." Mulled over why in my 32 years on planet earth, and my two and a half years in japan the thought had never even crossed my mind and immediately said "hells yeah i do!" Then found out about yeti, went there a few weeks before the big trip (just to see what it was about), and spent the entire day falling on my

hehe, was only playing a little bit still, i want the riot and the sooner someone buys one and has an utterly miserable time on it, the sooner i can swap them for a nice reverse camber gouged to crap LTD EDITION Horrorscope! <.< >.> What do you mean its just a sierrascope? It doesnt say sierra on it anywhere, i dont know what youre talking about! -

haha, i'll take that battering just so long as you let me play on your new riot afterwards I mean jebus! 7-5-7 flex profile? Ridiculously poppy, no edge catching... lightning edge transfer, AND a lightning base... solid for switch riding and float... total carving mode when you engage the edges... I mean COME ON!!! What the hell is the jam going to do that this deck isn't? Actually thats a good question, im off to find out And mamabear, thats exactly it I feel the same. If nothing else i hope i made a bit of a case for camber in amongst all this reverse hype -

there is a review of the jam, but the dude riding it realised his test board had serious detuned edges for no reason. It makes the review really incomplete and gives you almost no sense of the deck. so i figured id get you stoked on the issue of the base. Dont know where i got the idea it was sluggish... Maybe im compensating internally so i make sense of why everyone in the world isnt riding one of these. Im sure theres a problem, but nothing makes me think i wont love these decks Anyway, heres shakazulu's brief '09 jam review: Quote: Just got done after a full day with t -

ah hopefully the questions are addressed once you have a wee read through (its not all as black and white as my little summary there might have led you to believe). And Tubby, just dug out my reviews thread (i spent an age finding all the reviews by the users at sierra last year and collating them). Theres a couple of bataleon reviews in there that i dont want to link too here just in case, but ill post them up because you will be on FIRE about teh riot: This is from Kaptnkrunch at sierra: Quote: Height: 6'3" Weight: 215lbs Years Snowboarding: 12 Skill level: Free Ride = -

kk, rewritten the entire opening now. Made it much more focussed on this one overriding question: So er, ipps this is nice, but i'm none the wiser, can you just tell me what deck i want? And the answer: You want an all resort freestyle because they're versatile and forgiving... unless you don't of course want either of those things. -

righthyo, that's the first pass done. Things to do in section 2: 1. Preface and summarise each section to make it more noob friendly. 2. Get rid of jargon (or create a glossary). 3. Tidy tidy tidy. im one for shaggy dog stories so likely there's more than one unnecessary tangent in there. I'm pretty sure the final thoughts is FULL to the brim of random thoughts since I just wrote it and haven't really started editing it down ETA 4. Yeah, so im not entirely happy with the direction of the final thoughts. Its getting heavily edited tomorrow -

7. FINAL THOUGHTS "What do you want in a board?" Arguably one of the least helpful questions a new or first time buyer can face. Do you even know what a sintered base is? Can you confidently explain what a taper is, how it works, or why boards even have them? Do you even know the benefits of a directional shape are? Likely you don't. "good question! I want a hybrid (flying-v), setback directional twin with about a 7 for flex, and a sintered base, good for cliff drops and a bit of back country freestyle" probably won't be the words coming out of your mouth any time soon. But re -

same as i was doing in japan, ALT peaceful life and all that. But its keeping me far off track from buying a house in myoko and becoming a shochu drinking grizzly like all the old guys there seem to be And tubby, you have to let me play on it! I was seriously contemplating a bataleon this year, and it just got pipped to the post by the fact i could use my discount to get the charlie slasher for $319 (or $430 including shipping and import duty). The Jam and enemy were definitely the two decks i was considering. Man, i just need a few days on it (you honestly cant make your mind up on tb -

alas no. There's a dude at my local mountain through that rides an evil twin, and every time i see it i'm so freaking tempted to see if he'll swap out for an afternoon just so i can see if its as awesome as i think it will be (or if its as sluggish as ive heard others say it is). I guess that's the pain of living in korea and no one running tech demos here Guess before the season starts here i need to learn the korean for: "hey brah! want to swap decks for the afternoon, this one's totally legit so your ride's gonna be pro! And check out the flat kick on it! see how mellow it is? Co -

haha, you got the same bug i got when i first heard about it... namely: why the hell isnt this on everything?????? Im pretty sure the extr-eco from omatic uses a variation of it. But as the clip says, people cant really copy it because its patented They'll have to pay royalties to bataleon. -

Number 2 on the list of frequently asked questions: STEP 6: CAMBER VERSUS REVERSE CAMBER Of all the sections of the guide, this is going to be filled with the most accidental errors. Even suggesting that reverse camber is loose or 'skatier' in its feel will result in a few people bashing me on the head to say it feels perfectly fine thanks. The trouble here is that when I come to explain the pros and cons I'm dealing with not entirely objective facts, but rather a difference in 'feel' for the ride. This is why this section can not be answered by reading this thread alone. As the two -

When we come to hybrid camber, i'll be doing the same thing Thanks though for the vote of coufidence. I hope its pretty accurate, but it can all change in the next section -

STEP 5: BOARD SHAPES Of all the sections this is possibly going to be the shortest and also the simplest to follow. Effectively there are 4 types of deck out there so it's not too big a deal to grasp. (I'm going to steal the images from the one place because nothing explains things better than a picture). Type 1: True Twin/Twin Imagine if you will, there is a line going north to south through the centre of the deck. If you measured from the far left tip to the centre it would be the same distance as the far right tip to the centre. It would also have the same flexibility -

The first post (especially the freestyle explanation) is FULL to the brim of jargon But i figure i won't go into explaining everything in it yet since really a lot of it should be explained by the other posts. Once I'm finished those though, I'll definitely go back and run through it to make sure nothing is left hanging. I have gone through the second post and noticed several terms that could do with clearing up so shoved in a brief explanation at the very start to pre-empt them. Hope this helps -

dang, i was hoping i was keeping it simple? Do you mean the two posts on the front page, or the stuff in the thread? The stuff in the thread is pretty jargon intensive because we're chatting about all the stuff surrounding it, but the aim for the thread itself was to keep the jargon restricted. Ill have a look through it and see where i can clear things up. Thanks for the heads up PS. If its stuff about shapes or camber profiles, thats still to come so hopefully that will make things clearer. Then when youve got through that, you can read through the first post and know what im referrin -

i think that whole "ride shorter with reverse cam" thing was a consequence of the good old days before 2008 Common knowledge was this: You want an all mountain deck, ride your reg size. You want a park deck, drop the size. You want a big mountain deck, you ride a bigger size. I think what happened was that reverse gave you more float so people started advising you to size down forgetting of course the consequences to effective edge and stability because the contacts were raised. The line of thought was that if it floated that meant you didnt have to worry about that, so if -

haha, if they are reading this, ill have a horroscope or bsod thanks, i already have an indoor, charlie slasher and quiver killer oh, and forces. Lets just say im a paid up member of the C3 fanclub! You are right though, it is a bit capitatastic. i mean i realise i was following their formula, but even the flex pic is last years horrorscope. And yep, it should suit you probably because a lot of the direction of it is now massively influenced by what you were suggesting earlier in the thread and i think you were right to have me move that way instead. As for park decks (and a
