Edelweiss Ski Resort is a ski area located in the northern region of Nikko City in the northern region of Tochigi Prefecture.

This ski area is by the side of the Nichien Momiji Line road (which, since 2020, is no longer a toll road).


It has two quad lifts (1200m and 950m), three pair lifts (370m, 600m and 520m) across the north-facing slopes.


This ski area opened in 1970 as Keicho Kogen Miharashi. It changed to its current name in 1990.


While not connected, Hunter Mountain Shiobara ski area is just over 2km to the north of Edelweiss Ski Resort.

Edelweiss Ski Resort usually plans to be open from mid-December until late March. See below for the actual opening and closing dates in recent seasons.


Normal opening times

Edelweiss Ski Resort is normally open from 8:30am until 4:10pm.


Night skiing

There is no night skiing at this ski area.


Families & children

Playland BOW WOW is located between the Number 1 quad lift and Number 2 family pair lift. The area features sledding, tubing, a ski practice area and snow elevator. Entry is 1,000 yen.


Lessons

Ski and snowboard lessons are available at Edelweiss Ski Resort.


Rental

Ski and snowboard equipment & wear rental is available.

Introduction to the region

Tochigi Prefecture is located in the Kanto region of the main island of Honshu. It is one of only eight landlocked prefectures in Japan and shares borders with Fukushima Prefecture, Ibaraki Prefecture, Saitama Prefecture and Gunma Prefecture.


Tochigi currently has three operating ski areas, all in the northern region of the Prefecture in Nikko City and Nasushiobara City.


Edelweiss Ski Resort is one of 2 ski areas currently operating in Nikko City. The other is Nikko Yumoto Onsen in the western region of the city.
