Hunter Mountain Shiobara is a ski area located on the northwestern slopes of Mt Takahara in Nasushiobara City in the northern region of Tochigi Prefecture.
This ski area is by the side of the Nichien Momiji Line road (which, since 2020, is no longer a toll road).
The name comes from the Hunter Mountain resort in New York state, and the course names continue the New York theme. It is within range of Tokyo, making it a popular day-trip ski area for people in the capital region and affectionately known as Hantama.
Hunter Mountain has a six-person 2,418m gondola, two quad lifts (1,709m and 985m) and three pair lifts (587m, 793m and 988m).
This ski area has been operating since 1988.
