Kazawa Snow Area is a ski area located in Tsumagoi Village in the western region of Gunma Prefecture.

This ski area currently has five pair lifts operating, ranging in length from 400m to 950m. The Number 2 lift has a mid-station for alighting. (There is an additional lift in the top area, but that has been closed since the 2014-2015 season. The Number 8 lift to the left side is also not scheduled to be open for the 2025-2026 season).

In 2000 a new area known as Kaman Kazawa Snow Field opened next to the original ski area (then known as Kazawa Highland). In 2001 they became collectively known as Kazawa Snow Area. The Kaman area has been closed since 2019.

It is possible to rent out part of the ski area for exclusively private use in a morning or evening, each costing 140,000 yen.

Spectacular mountain scenery can be enjoyed from the top of the north-facing slopes of Kazawa, with many famous mountains in view on a clear day.

Introduction to the region

Gunma Prefecture is located in the northwestern part of the Kanto region on the main island of Honshu. It is one of eight landlocked prefectures in Japan. Gunma is surrounded by Niigata Prefecture and Fukushima Prefecture to the north, Nagano Prefecture to the west, Tochigi Prefecture to the east, and Saitama Prefecture to the south.

The ski areas of Gunma are largely found in the northern region (Minakami Town, Kawaba Village and Katashina Village) and the western region (Kusatsu Town and Tsumagoi Village).

Tsumagoi is the most westerly town or village in Gunma Prefecture, with Ueda City in Nagano Prefecture as its neighbour.

Kazawa Snow Area is one of 3 ski areas currently operating in Tsumagoi Village.
