Adatara Kogen is a ski area located on the eastern slopes of Mt Adatara in Nihonmatsu City in the northern region of Fukushima Prefecture.
This ski area is just over 5km northwest of the main Dake Onsen hot springs and overlooks the Nihonmatsu plain, Fukushima and Koriyama.
Adatara Kogen has one quad lift (510m) and three pair lifts (350m, 450m and 760m), and they are all named after colours - Orange Line, Blue Line, Violet Line and Gold Line. The longest ski run is 2,100m, and there is a steepest gradient of 28 degrees on three courses.
The 760m Gold Line lift has disappeared from the official course map since the 2024-2025 season.
Two lifts now operate on weekdays.

Normal season dates
Adatara Kogen usually plans to be open from late December until mid-March. See below for the actual opening and closing dates in recent seasons.
Normal opening times
Adatara Kogen is normally open on weekends and holidays from 8:30am until 4:30pm and from 9:00am until 4:00pm on weekdays. The ski area is closed on the following days:

Night skiing
There is no night skiing at Adatara Kogen.
Snowshoe
There is a snowshoe park area in the base area.
Families & children
The Kids Park is in the base area. There is a 1,000 yen charge to use the snow escalator (1,500 yen for child with adult).
Lessons
Ski and snowboard lessons are available at Adatara Kogen. Snowshoe lessons are also available.
Rental

Introduction to the region
Fukushima Prefecture is the southernmost prefecture of the Tohoku region of northern Japan. Fukushima Prefecture borders Miyagi Prefecture and Yamagata Prefecture to the north, Niigata Prefecture to the west, Gunma Prefecture to the southwest, and Tochigi Prefecture and Ibaraki Prefecture to the south.
The majority of the ski areas in Fukushima Prefecture are in the northern region around Mt. Bandai and north of Lake Inawashiro (the fourth-largest lake in Japan), as well as in the western region of the prefecture.
