The latest Furano Now report can be found here . Good morning to Saturday. The day is looking really good out there with a whopping 9cm of light powder in the village overnight. There is no wind and it continues to snow moderately at the moment. Temperatures are pretty warm, but importantly the resort is still sitting below freezing, meaning the pow will be good this morning. Cloud is rolling three quarters of the way down the hill but it should lift as the morning progresses. Tomorrow's forecast is positive with largely clear skies and no wind. The latest Furano Now report can be found here . It is another very fine day in Furano. The morning started off with blue skies and cold wintery temperatures. The blue skies are still with us, but the sun is out in full force and the temperatures have warmed up with the current temperature sitting on +3c at base. The snow is really nice on piste today and the ungroomed areas are skiing well with the top up of snow overnight. Tomorrow is forecast to be well above 0c all day. It will be best to get out and enjoy the snow in the morning as moderate rain is forecast from PM onwards. The latest Furano Now report can be found here . It is a blue sky day with some cloud mixed in, and the resort looks great sparkling in the sun. There is a strong wind gusting at the moment and this has caused the operation of the Kitanomine Gondola to be put on hold. The wind is forecast to reduce and be relatively calm by tomorrow morning. Apart from the wind it is a great day. The latest Furano Now report can be found here . Good morning on a glorious Monday. Conditions are just looking perfect this morning. The area is surrounded in deep blue sky with not a hint of wind in the village. It will be a great day to take some photos with the blue sky providing a vivid contrast to the whiteness of the snow. There has been a couple of centimetres of new snow overnight and there is a little more expected later this afternoon. Tomorrow is also looking good but will be more of a cloud/clear mix with a slight breeze and 6cm of snow forecast tomorrow evening. Looking further ahead in the week we are going to jump into a period of warm weather from Thursday onwards, and significantly there is moderate rain from Friday evening through Saturday afternoon. The latest Furano Now report can be found here . Yesterday the rain did eventuate and hung around for a few hours, but didn't detract many from enjoying themselves on the mountain. Today the temperatures have dipped back to more wintery levels. After yesterdays rain the slopes will be a bit firm and frosty, although the sun is out and may help soften things a bit. The winds were fairly strong earlier in the morning but have reduced and now are only light around the village. There is a thin dusting of snow at village level. Tomorrow should be similar but there may be cloud cover so we may not get to see the sun. Expect some more light snow between now and then. The latest Furano Now report can be found here . Good morning to another fine spring like day in Furano. Blue skies surround us with the odd cloud hanging around. Cloud may increase later in the day. The sun is out and the resort has been topped up with another light layer of new snow. This time 2cm. There is a very light breeze but nothing significant and it should stay around the same level for the day. Tomorrow will be warmer and we can expect temperatures well into the positives on Friday. That warm weather on Friday is also going to bring a period of heavy rain in the evening. We are definitely entering spring. The latest Furano Now report can be found here . It is a perfect Sunday with clear views over the town through to Mt Tokachi in the distance. The slopes are nicely groomed with a little powder on top and a frosty base under that. The base should soften late morning as the sun is out in full force. Ungroomed areas have some lovely light dry powder on them which is pretty amazing considering it is nearly mid March. Tomorrow's forecast is pretty much the same as today's with perhaps slightly warmer temperatures. The latest Furano Now report can be found here . Overnight saw 2cm of fresh snow fall in the village. The sun come out early morning and the fresh snow disappeared from around the village. The cold start soon gave way and the temperatures rose above freezing and are currently sitting around +5c. It looks like we will keep the good weather for the remainder of the week with calm wind conditions and sunshine. Roll on spring! The latest Furano Now report can be found here . A pleasant day abounds in Furano with some nice blue sky and sunshine. Temperatures are pretty cold this morning and there is a light breeze which should keep you from overheating on the slopes. There has been 2cm of fresh snow overnight. Kitanomine Zone is now closed for the season and night skiing has also finished. From today onwards it is just the Furano Zone operating. The latest Furano Now report can be found here . Furano looking stunning and the snow is great. Blue sky today, was shaping up bluebird but a few white and fluffies around. The snow is divine with about 6cm falling in Kitanomine Village and about knee deep on the side country on the resort. Nine of ten lifts now operating so the only one we are waiting on is the Kitanomine Gondola. Sun forecast today and tomorrow so let's hope for the weekend but the fact that Kitanomine Zone is open means it's easy and convenient to get to Furano Zone. If you have accommodation booked in Kitanomine Zone, it means you do not have to get yourself to Furano Zone. If your accommodation is in town, you only have to make your way to Kitanomine Zone (which is actually walking distance, just not a fun walk carrying skis if you are comfort inclined). Light breeze today, -2C in town at 10am. Resort listing the base as 95cm with 10cm of fresh. That would be erring on the low side which is always my preference with such things. The latest Furano Now report can be found here . With the spring weather in full force now the landscape has changed from one of pure white to one of vivid green growth in the fields and the colourful pinks of the cherry blossoms. Winter is over! The snow line of the resort has retreated well up the mountain and all traces of white will soon be gone. Reflecting on the season, I would have to say it was the best season that I can ever recall in Furano. While resorts on Honshu were dealt a bad hand and struggled for snow, the opposite happened here in Furano in 15/16. From mid December onwards we received copious quantities of fresh snow on an almost daily basis. Needless to say the powder skiing was excellent both on and off piste. Although temperatures were negative and wintery, they were noticeably warmer than the usual Furano norms and I don't recall getting cold fingers or feet during the season. The village saw a large increase in the number of international visitors, who surely left town with fond memories of the great skiing, delicious food and the friendly locals. No doubt we will see many of them back again next year to get more great skiing and to continue to explore the local restaurants. Many visitors used Furano as a base and did day trips to the other Hokkaido powder belt ski areas of Kamui, Tomamu, Asahidake and Kurodake. There sure is a lot of terrain variety when all of those options are factored in. Guided day trips were a really popular option and many people also used rental cars to get around. For the next few months I will be enjoying the warmth of summer. My skis have been serviced and put away, and will not be out until next December. I'll be back in touch in November as we start the run up to the opening of the 16/17 season.
