That certainly looks like what will happen generally over the next few days anyway. Clearer skies, not as cold. It's keeping very cold this morning though, helping keep the snow conditions in shape. The latest Shiga Kogen Now report can be found here . Snow, reduced visibility and a moderate wind is what sums up this morning. It was much calmer as yesterday ended, but this morning much more stormy with very limited visibility at the moment - certainly in the Maruike area where I am now but earlier on I was up at the Kumanoyu and Yokoteyama area and I couldn't see much in front of my up there either. The wind and conditions are affecting some lifts around the area. In particular most of the lifts at Okushiga Kogen mostly seem to be on hold; other than that just a few other lifts showing sings of 'waiting for conditions to improve' as I write this. Snow is forecast for throughout today and easing off by tomorrow morning. Wind too hopefully. Watch out for the cold though it's actually going to get colder as the day goes on today and should be extremely cold overnight. Wind chill! The latest Shiga Kogen Now report can be found here . After a calm evening yesterday, we're back to snow and winter conditions this morning in Shiga Kogen. Well we were when I got up, it has eased off again now and there's even some sun as well. I think 'changeable conditions' pretty much sums it up this morning. The forecast is for that today - maybe get some fresh snow on the ground - with more snow expected tomorrow. Better chance of heavier snow falling come tomorrow. After that once we get into next week we are looking at a good chance of a run of fine, clear days. Sun and milder conditions. The latest Shiga Kogen Now report can be found here . Back to normal this morning after the 3 day weekend so less people around. A cloudy start to the day with light snow still falling in some areas early on; the snow clouds are due to ease off and move out today and we might enjoy some clearer skies this afternoon. That's what we're due tomorrow as well with the next fresh cm of snow due Saturday. It should get a little milder over the next few days, though will likely remain around or under freezing point even so. Full on winter here this morning. The people still here for the last day of their long weekend may not be so happy at braving blizzard conditions, but a lot will keep us good for a while. The latest Shiga Kogen Now report can be found here . Mild start to the day here in Shiga Kogen, but snow is falling... we're avoiding the rain that is falling at down in the valley. Not the best snow ever, some 'moisture' going on there, but I'll take it over rain any day. Cloud covering lots of the mountains so generally quite limited visibility this morning. There's a bit of wind blowing as well and it probably feels a bit colder than it actually is. Snow is expected to continue falling today through into tomorrow morning. Weekend visitors might be happy to hear that the forecast for Saturday and Sunday is currently fine and sunny. Should be a good one especially if we can get a decent amount of snow in the next 24 hours. It has given us a really good reset though and with more snow this morning conditions should be great once the skies clear a bit. Well, great now if you want to brave the current conditions! Some lifts affected over at Yokoteyama are delayed opening because of the conditions but the weather forecast is predicting conditions to improve during the morning and those winds to calm down too. Early start recommended tomorrow because there's a good chance of a sunny start to the day. Lots of cloud around, but since then more blue sky has shown up and a bit of sun here and there - it feels like it might clear up, though the forecast says different with snow due later today and into tomorrow. Monday to Friday mostly is forecast good weather conditions... good as in sun, clearer skies and calm, along with milder temperatures. Nothing to get alarmed about though as it should remain in zero numbers through the week. But the peak of the snow and windy conditions we had yesterday has passed and there's now blue sky over me and the sun is shining through my window. Time to get out I think! Should be a good one. Looks like wind is affecting some lifts at a few places this morning (Ichinose Diamond, Okushiga Kogen and Yokoteyama) but conditions are improving and I would expect them to get moving soon enough. More snow on the forecast for tomorrow. The latest Shiga Kogen Now report can be found here . Ah yes, it feels like February again! Got some fresh snow this morning, about 5cm or so, and it's good and fairly cold. Perhaps not the lightest driest snow ever, but heavier snow forecast for later on this afternoon too - onegai shimasu! - along with strong winds. Colder conditions as well hopefully. It's all not expected to last much into tomorrow though according to the forecasts. I believe it was raining lower down yesterday afternoon, but up here in Shiga Kogen we got some light snow slowly falling. Looking like there's some potential in the coming week as well. The latest Shiga Kogen Now report can be found here . This morning is a real beauty. Clear blue skies. Met a family yesterday and the children were skiing for the first time. In the stormy conditions we had. I can't really blame them for the children not enjoying themselves. Unfortunately they didn't get to stay for today and experience these completely different and much more friendly conditions. The experience would probably have been so different. That first time is so important! So yes it's a beautiful day to be outside today. Cold start but the sun shining down should warm things up a bit.
