  • Myoko Now: Wednesday 8th February 2017

Independent snow and weather reporting from the Myoko region of Niigata New snowfall at base 44cm Snowfall at base this season 1090cm Posted on Wednesday 8th February 2017 This is an archived report. The latest Myoko Now report can be found here . Sorry to be off here; snow was falling, machines aren't working.... I promise to be a good boy. It is fun, after all! Tuesday: good snow (37cm), high winds closed the Capsule and quad lifts at Ikenotaira (one reason for panic by your writer) as well as the gondola at Suginohara, although both were running later in the day. Wednesday: Gray start to the day, with some 7cm of light on top of everything. Meaning some great skiing on piste, but especially out in the trees. Tomorrow looks good again, with the possibility of heavy snow late in the day into Friday, I promise to start my snowplowing early... 5am. Maybe. • Shiga Kogen Now: Tuesday 7th February 2017

Independent snow and weather reporting from the Shiga Kogen region of Nagano New snowfall at base 25cm Snowfall at base this season 801cm Posted on Tuesday 7th February 2017 This is an archived report. The latest Shiga Kogen Now report can be found here . On and off snowy and windy conditions since yesterday, and at the moment the wind is still blowing around the fine snow that is falling making for rather wild conditions outside. It's making it hard to put a number on the snowfall again this morning, but after checking my various measuring points and speaking with a few friends I'm going with 25cm. (Just to give you an idea of how the numbers can vary, the official site is reporting 35cm while Kumanoyu are reporting 5-10cm! Hmmmm.) Whatever, there's a nice fresh blanket of snow out there once again and with more on the way too... there's not much in terms of clear weather conditions shown on the weekly forecast though wind will perhaps be less of an issue from tomorrow. Anyway, things continue to go well for us here in Shiga Kogen. If you are planning on being here come prepared for snowy conditions - and good snow on the slopes! Morning from Nozawa and just look at that - just under another 40cm of snow being reported by the resort since yesterday on the top Yamabiko area of the resort. Very nice. A fair bit less lower down the mountain as it took a while to get going yesterday... but still about 16cm on the ground. It has been snowing this morning but just as I write this report it has eased off and there's even a few breaks in the clouds above the village.
