  • Furano Now: Monday 11th February 2019

Independent snow and weather reporting from the Furano region of Hokkaido New snowfall at base 7cm Snowfall at base this season 452cm Posted on Monday 11th February 2019 This is an archived report. The latest Furano Now report can be found here . It is a very nice morning and we have received a respectable 7cm of new snow in the village which will equate to 10-15cm on the resort I think. There is little in the way of breeze and the temperature is milder than the last few days, which is good. Should be a good powder morning, but with today being a public holiday expect a bit of a queue for the lifts like there was yesterday. It is still snowing very lightly but this is not compromising the visibility. • Nozawa Now: Monday 11th February 2019

Independent snow and weather reporting from the Nozawa Onsen region of Nagano New snowfall at base 6cm Snowfall at base this season 716cm Posted on Monday 11th February 2019 This is an archived report. The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here . No fresh snow being reported overnight apart from 2cm from the Uenotaira area. I wasn't able to check the official numbers late afternoon so I apologise for missing those. I measured slightly over 5cm since the morning. It is a cold and cloudy morning. Not much sign of sun, not at the moment anyway. As expected, it was a busy day yesterday. This being the last day of the long weekend, today will be less so, especially as the day goes on. Tomorrow we should be seeing more fresh snow falling with regular snowfall over the coming week. That sounds good to me. If you want to check out the mostly unavailable Kandahar lift, tomorrow is your chance! That was the plan anyway, hopefully it is still going ahead. It will be open to the general public tomorrow and then only on 1st March after that. Zao is really rather busy at the moment; there have been some long queues at times, especially for the Ropeway up to the top of the mountain. Cunning planning recommended (and a good talk with your accommodation on the best strategy). I would say an early start is always a good idea. • Hakuba Now: Sunday 10th February 2019

Independent snow and weather reporting from the Hakuba region of Nagano New snowfall at base 7cm Snowfall at base this season 339cm Posted on Sunday 10th February 2019 This is an archived report. The latest Hakuba Now report can be found here . Hello from Hakuba on this 'middle day of the long weekend' Sunday morning. And here are your headlines for the day: Hakuba Cortina: 20cm (base); 20cm (top) Hakuba Norikura: 20cm Hakuba Happo-one: 5cm (top of Riesen) Hakuba 47: 5-10cm Hakuba Goryu: 5-10cm I was up at 47 yesterday afternoon and it was snowing lightly. Quite busy but found some fine pockets of powder that were untouched. I think we were kind of expecting a bit more overnight. Sounds like there was a bit of wind blowing snow around, perhaps that goes some way to explaining different numbers. Or perhaps there was just more in the northern areas (Cortina and Norikura) as is sometimes the case. I think that some serious hands on investigation might be required, because I feel there's going to be more out there. Someone has to do it, so go on... I volunteer! Light snow falling at the moment in places, but also some sun shining through clouds in places too so a mixed bag of conditions early on. There's snow potential on the forecast over the coming week, the first decent amount due perhaps overnight tomorrow night. But in the meantime it should be a good morning. Perhaps see some of you out there.
