Hello from Hakuba on this 'middle day of the long weekend' Sunday morning.
And here are your headlines for the day:
Hakuba Cortina: 20cm (base); 20cm (top)
Hakuba Norikura: 20cm
Hakuba Happo-one: 5cm (top of Riesen)
Hakuba 47: 5-10cm
Hakuba Goryu: 5-10cm
I was up at 47 yesterday afternoon and it was snowing lightly. Quite busy but found some fine pockets of powder that were untouched.
I think we were kind of expecting a bit more overnight. Sounds like there was a bit of wind blowing snow around, perhaps that goes some way to explaining different numbers. Or perhaps there was just more in the northern areas (Cortina and Norikura) as is sometimes the case. I think that some serious hands on investigation might be required, because I feel there's going to be more out there. Someone has to do it, so go on... I volunteer!
Light snow falling at the moment in places, but also some sun shining through clouds in places too so a mixed bag of conditions early on.
There's snow potential on the forecast over the coming week, the first decent amount due perhaps overnight tomorrow night.
But in the meantime it should be a good morning. Perhaps see some of you out there.
