The latest Madarao Now report can be found here . And today is even better. 50-60cm of new snowfall being reported by the snow and evidence of such a snowfall at my feet. How's that for a number this morning. Heavy snowfall since yesterday has really given us some deep conditions this morning and conditions that have prevented some lifts from opening on time as staff arrive (eventually) and get to grips with all that snow. As light as the snow is, it sure is heavy! Hope that makes sense! The snow continues to fall and it is cold this morning. Poor visibility on the slopes. The storm should be passed by tomorrow when the sun probably be out shining down on us and it won't be as cold as it is today. Great conditions. I hope you can partake and enjoy. The latest Madarao Now report can be found here . Ah, now this is good. The snow started in the middle of the day yesterday and we had about 15cm by evening time, and this morning up to 20-30cm of new snowfall. Very nice. Still, it is on top of the somewhat icy conditions that we had before the snow hit below it and so a bit more would be good to give us nice soft deep conditions. The snow is still falling and should be into tomorrow as well. Generally poor visibility on the slopes. The tree runs are open again today so should be a good day. The latest Madarao Now report can be found here . Well, no snow to report since yesterday. It's a fairly chilly -2 this morning at base and just a slight wind. Kind of an overcast and cloudy but bright start to the day. So when's this snow coming, I hear you ask? Forecast says today and tomorrow, so we'll just have to hope that the forecast gets it right. It should be getting colder from tomorrow as well so hopefully a return to mid-winter like conditions. We didn't escape the wet yesterday in the end and the damage that brings but lets try to put that behind us (he types grumpily) and bring the better news... 10cm of new snow this morning. Yes, it turned into snow overnight and there's a fresh layer out there now. Better conditions but 10cm isn't massive and so we want more, more, more. The clouds have seen fit to disperse though for now and I can see some blue sky as well as the remaining cloud and for now snowfall has stopped. Snow still on the forecast for most days this week though so perhaps it's just very changeable today. The tree courses are closed today due to conditions left by yesterday. The latest Madarao Now report can be found here . All the doom and gloom about rain have not eventuated this morning, although it is very warm for this time of year. A wind has come in from the south, which is good news for windsurfers, but not the best for snowboarders. The temperature was 3 degrees at last read of the thermometer. Balmy temperatures really, so you may want to bring your wind surfer if you have one, just in case. Apart from that, there is still plenty of snow around if you feel in the mood for skidding around in spring conditions, in winter. There has been no more snow at Madarao overnight, but the forecast has indicated that there is more coming tonight. So all is not lost. The new year break should still see some good powdery conditions. The latest Madarao Now report can be found here . There has been more snow at Madarao overnight, resort reporting 15-25cm on the mountain. It is a relatively mild morning and will be all weekend. The visibility isn't poor at the moment, but once the fog lifts, it will be game on for a great powder day. Clearer weather is actually forecast for the day. The powder is a little heavier than perfect, but great really for this time of the year. Today also brings the opening of Madarao's new tree run called "Powder Theater". So you can not only get first tracks, but 'first ever' tracks. Something to tick off the old bucket list. First ever tracks. Check! All of the other tree runs are now open too. Nighta from tonight as well. A good chance of rain (please no!) tomorrow before it turns (hopefully quickly) into snowfall. The latest Madarao Now report can be found here . It was a beautiful day yesterday. The sun was out all day but temperatures remained low. Today it starts off at -4C and no new snow to report. Not as clear as yesterday with more cloud cover early on but still looks like it will be a calm day. Slightly milder conditions over the next few days then back to cold and snow again from later on Sunday into next week. The Number 13 single lift to the top of the mountain will be open from tomorrow, along with the planned debut of the new Powder Theater. The latest Madarao Now report can be found here . After the excitement of snowy-ness of yesterday, the weather decides to bring us an all blue sky start to the day at Madarao. No new snow to report and a cold temperature of -7C here on this beautiful Christmas morning. There was an accident on the main road connecting Madarao with central Iiyama city yesterday which blocked off that road for a time and caused some traffic problems, but we are all clear today. We are expecting more snow overnight tonight into tomorrow, so perhaps the clouds will gradually move back in as the day moves on today. We'll see. Enjoy your Christmas Day. When I looked at the thermometer earlier on it was a brisky -8C and it is going to be cold all day today. Snow forecast to be falling all day but probably get weaker later on. By tomorrow, we might have sunny skies, less wind and milder temps. going through into Saturday. The River Line and Usagi areas open today. There should be lots of powder to play in. The latest Madarao Now report can be found here . Whoah! Very good morning! How do you like the sound of 50-70cm of new snow this morning? Yep, thought so! A whopping amount of new snow to enjoy out there this morning as Santa brings us a very nice present. The snow started properly later on in the day yesterday and really came down overnight. The resort is trying to get their powder tree runs open this morning - Powder Wave I and Usagi look set to be open. It should be a very powdery morning on all the courses though. There may be delays with the lifts though as they cope with the snow (a good problem to have). More snow due tomorrow and Wednesday.
