The latest Madarao Now report can be found here . And yes, we have a bit of snowfall... just a bit, and it is raining down in town. But good to see a thin sprinkling of snow. Might be a bit more before tomorrow too, in which case I'll let you know. As I write some blue skies have started to appear over on the Tangram side of the mountain and the sun is out. Still limited visibility here though. We're still in November, and now exactly 3 weeks away from the planned opening of Madarao and Tangram. Both Madarao and Tangram Ski Circus both plan to open for the 2020-2021 season on Saturday 19th December. And the trees are indeed loaded with snow this morning though my number is closer to 20cm. Still, for late March in this season that is some statistic. The snow will probably stop by/around lunchtime with cloudy skies due tomorrow. It should be a very pleasing last few days of the season. ----- Madarao and Tangram Ski Circus will both be open until Tuesday 31st March. 3 days to go. The latest Madarao Now report can be found here . Morning from a snowy Madarao, complete with a fresh thick new layer of light snow. Lovely. The resort is reporting 35-40cm of fresh and increasing the official snow depth up to 240cm. Tangram is taking a good jump up to 170cm too. It doesn't feel quite as cold this morning and Mr Thermo confirms that. It will be cold overnight tonight and sunshine is due in the morning (kicking off a general warm up for a few days), so I recommend planning for an early start tomorrow. I also recommend right now; today will likely be quite busy though due to it being a national holiday. The latest Madarao Now report can be found here . Good morning from Madarao. Yesterday was a good day. It felt like we were in a normal season - a good thing!! Lots of snow coming down at a rate and piling up. The resort itself was saying 65cm over a 24 hour period as of yesterday afternoon. My own observed numbers over the last two reports come fairly close. Lots of snow. The third photo today is from Madarao yesterday. Excellent. This morning the official snow depth at Madarao is up to 120cm. That is still lower than normal but it is great to see it quickly bumping up. It is a cold morning, the sun is out and we have blue skies and some wispy thin clouds. It should be top morning. And I'm going to enjoy it (just so I can report to you tomorrow of course). I will leave it at that... until tomorrow! The latest Madarao Now report can be found here . Good morning from Madarao and happy new year to our friends who are celebrating the Lunar New Year. A bit of fresh snow to start the weekend off which is good. The resort is reporting 5cm on their social media, but curiously 0cm on the official site. I can add just a bit as my observed number. It's a cold start too, which is also good. There's another 'try some skis' demo thing going on by the Super Quad lift today and tomorrow from 'Blue Lab Project'. It's free but you will need identification to partake. Nighta at Madarao today from 5pm until 9pm; unfortunately Tangram have cancelled theirs due to the snow conditions on that course. The resort was showing a ruler measuring around 19cm earlier on this morning... and are saying 30cm on the official site. Anyway, as much as I prefer the latter number, I like both. There is a nice new layer out there and the snow clouds have dispersed (for now at least) with quite a bit of blue sky early on. The mountain is looking very tempting and while I am sure some people will have had a late night in Nozawa last night (for the Fire Festival over there), people able to enjoy first tracks this morning will most certainly feel getting up early is worth it. The latest Madarao Now report can be found here . Good morning from Madarao. I can add some decent more snowfall this morning with a nice new layer of fluffy goodness on the ground. The resort itself is this morning reporting 15cm of fresh snowfall and I have just measured 18cm. Snow is forecast to perhaps ease off during the day but more snow due overnight tonight - and hopefully it will be another good layer too. Come on..... we need more for those tree runs to get opening up. Anyway, conditions should be suitably improved this morning and I think I need to go check them out. Don't worry, I'll do it for you.
