That's not enough to open yet, but we should be getting more snow today. I did not measure as much as that, but there is a new layer out there and everywhere is looking nice and white now. Tomorrow there should be some news about possible opening as planned on Saturday. Snow started falling about an hour ago and now it's due to set in and we should be getting some cm during the day today and into tomorrow as well. It's one of those more unusual instances when the snow is actually coming from the south rather than from the usual northwest. Expect the light southerly wind switch to northerly later this morning. The latest Madarao Now report can be found here . Phew. Bit mad out there at the moment. Loads of snow and poor visibility continues. The ski area is reporting 50cm but I have measured a fair bit more than that. It's one of those cases where there's going to be more in some places than others, but my main spot is pretty well sheltered from the wind. Don't get bogged down by numbers - there's just a lot of fresh snow. It's a cold morning as well so when this particular snowstorm clears we should be on for some excellent conditions. There will be quite a few people deciding not to venture out in this weather, though I'm sure there will be others who make a point of it! Danger is out there on a day like today though, so we need to always keep that in mind. Even when it's really exciting. Care really needed in these conditions. The ski area is this morning reporting 40cm of new snowfall (at 8am) as the official snow depth rises to 400cm. I've just measured 46cm.... and counting. I'm going to have another big number to report tomorrow morning too. Some lifts are delayed opening this morning as the ski areas deal with the heavy snowfall. Talking of which, I've got some of that dealing to do myself. There are some breaks in the cloud over on the Tangram side of the mountain as I write this. Looks like one of those days when Myoko just to the north got a fair bit more than us here. The ski area is reporting 10cm and I just measured 11cm. The region is expecting some big snow over the coming weekend, starting up again from tonight and stepping up around opening time tomorrow morning. If you are able to come, be prepared!
