The latest Geto Kogen Now report can be found here . Good morning from Geto. Yesterday was fairly calm and a day of light snow and cloud. There has been more snow overnight but it's due to stop and leave us with a mostly cloudy day. Limited visibility just at the moment but there's a good new layer of fresh snow out there. I saw on the news that Japan as a whole is heading into a mild few days up to at least Saturday. We won't be able to escape that and temps might be getting up to around 6C or 7C on Saturday at base. Beyond today there will surely be a few days without fresh snow. Hopefully we will be able to return to more winter-like cold from Sunday. The latest Geto Kogen Now report can be found here . Things can change very quickly. Take yesterday and this morning as a good example. It was raining on and off until evening yesterday, and heavy at times, but it eventually turned into snow. And this morning the ski area reports an impressive 40cm of fresh snow on the upper areas. There's 25cm down at base too. Nice! Snow is forecast for the day today and tomorrow too. Expect some big numbers. By the way, I am trying to find out when they clear the snow on the '24 hour snowfall' image that I will try to post in my reports. I'll let you know when I get an answer. Yes, with another 10+cm at base and a little more on the mountain, Geto Kogen will be open from this morning. The snow was all during the day yesterday. This morning a fairly decent amount of the ski area will be available. The ski area reports 50cm and over in places with A1-B1 courses open, apparently offering just under 8km in terrain. Not bad. Fingers crossed this base is built upon regularly from now, in true Geto Kogen style. (Mid week is looking good for some proper heavy snow). Just a few cm down to base, with the ski area reporting 4cm higher up. Great to see snow, but the ski area will need much more than that to open (of course). There is snow on the forecasts into the weekend, so we'll just have to wait and see what nature delivers. Good morning, and this time I have some fresh snow to report to you. 15cm of it and that is what the ski area are themselves also reporting from the mountain. Fingers crossed it's the start of some more consistent snow over the weekend and into early next week. It will be good to get back to that after a calmer spell of weather. There's a bit of wind this morning but it shouldn't be causing any issues for now, bit might get stronger later in the day. Visibility is average-limited in places. The latest Geto Kogen Now report can be found here . Happy New Year. The ski area is reporting a full and fresh 100cm of snow on the mountain. At base it's 'just' 76cm. Tons of snow. Very cold and excellent quality. Not a bad way to start the New Year. Oh yes, and it is snowing and there's more due. Perhaps heavy at times. Expect more big numbers. Lifts are scheduled to be open. After that modest snowfall reported yesterday, this morning we're back to more Geto-like large numbers. 42cm of snowfall since yesterday with 60+cm being reported from the mountain. A lot of that came overnight after it being on and off during the day yesterday. And we are now expecting snow through today and tomorrow and it looks like it should be quite regular going into the week as well - though perhaps not totally 'full-on'. This morning it is mostly cloudy, with a few small hints of clearer skies. It is much calmer this morning.
