Independent snow and weather reporting from the Geto Kogen region of Iwate

New snowfall at base 31cm
Snowfall at base this season 101cm

Posted on Saturday 7th December 2024 This is an archived report. The latest Geto Kogen Now report can be found here.

And what better way to start than a nice thick layer of lovely snow. About 30cm of it, with the ski area itself reporting around 60cm from higher up. Very nice.

Everywhere is looking nicely covered this morning and it is actually quite bright at the moment. Lots of cloud but some hints of blue sky in places too.

Still, there's more snow lined up on forecasts over the coming days. Perhaps it will be on/off? (That'll do, though more on than off please!)

Lifts operating (planned):

Number 1 gondola

Number 2 gondola

Number 1 and 2 pair lifts might open depending on conditions

Quad might get moving tomorrow

Runs open (planned):

More of the mountain open this morning but actual course openings will be decided a bit later after inspections

Official snow depth (reported by the ski area):

130cm (top)

70cm (base)
