A moderate spring wind this afternoon, but not like over the weekend. Temperatures rose up to around 14 degrees. The forecast tells us to expect a cold early morning tomorrow, possibly even dipping down to around freezing. Chance of rain or perhaps a bit of snow up top as well - but nothing major. Tomorrow should settle down to be just cloudy and a bit colder than today. The latest Yuzawa Now report can be found here . So we are now down to three skijo open in the area - Kandatsu Kogen, GALA Yuzawa and Kagura. With Maiko planning to open this coming weekend, just for the weekend. It has been a bit calmer today though still quite windy up on the mountains with the Tashiro area of Kagura closed and limited at the main Kagura area too, via Mitsumata. Been some sun out though so it feels rather brighter than it did over the weekend. Tomorrow is forecast to start off clear and sunny and it will warm up to perhaps around 12 degrees during the daytime. The latest Yuzawa Now report can be found here . As yesterday the day started off fine here today but now that we are into the afternoon the rain has started. Strong winds too as forecast and the conditions have affected resorts around town with Gala Yuzawa and Kagura closed and limitations elsewhere.... not the best of days by all accounts. The winds may ease off somewhat tomorrow but rain is likely to continue. The latest Yuzawa Now report can be found here . Fine weather to start the day off here, and it's going to be another warm one.... and more of the same tomorrow as well. If you are planning a day this weekend, make sure it's tomorrow as Sunday is currently forecast to bring some pretty heavy rain and stormy conditions. If the forecast holds true not only will it be a bit nasty but also very windy and a good chance that some lifts might be stopped. The new version of SnowJapan will be with us all in the next day or two. It's a complete reworking of the site and totally new. This Now report page will also look rather different as well. [Originally posted earlier this morning - late appearance due to technical issues] There's quite a lot of cloud around this morning but a definite improvement on yesterday. Actually this morning also started off with some light rain still around but that has cleared and it would seem that we are going to see the clear up continuing with sunny blue skies likely this afternoon over Yuzawa and the Minamiuonuma valley. As of 9am it is about 6 degrees with a high of around 11c forecast. Tomorrow should get warmer and be sunny from early in the morning according to the local forecast. Saturday to get warmer still and also bring us more rain by the looks... As forecast, rain and heavy rain as I write the report. All through the night too and it doesn't seem keen to give up anytime soon.... might be tomorrow morning before it stops. So definitely a day for a soak in an onsen today or some other activity, I can't see it being much fun on the slopes, especially when the biggest chance of snow today up at Kagura isn't going to be possible due to wind closures. Let's hope for a nicer day tomorrow - local forecast is cloudy start turning sunny. The day has started off cloudy and some spots of rain falling, light at the moment but the forecast for the day seems to be cloud and temps to rise to around 12 degrees. There's a moderate wind blowing around early on - whether that will be enough to impact on some lifts, not sure. Rain is forecast for the day tomorrow. The latest Yuzawa Now report can be found here . It's a fine morning in Yuzawa. Lots of blue skies and just a few wispy kind of clouds hanging around. Should be a fine day. Tomorrow it's forecast to be cloudy with a chance of rain later in the day. Yesterday was of course the last day of the season for a number of resorts around Yuzawa and Minamiuonuma. Unfortunately around lunchtime rain started falling and it was a bit of a wet afternoon... not the best way to finish off the season. But otsukaresama to all of the people at those resorts - we'll see you next season. Still, most of the bigger resorts remain open and of course some until near the end of May if the snow holds up. Many of the remaining open resorts are 'part open' which means that not all courses and lifts are available. For example it seems that Gala Yuzawa have now closed their South Area of the resort; Iwappara has just the Number 2 and 3 lifts operating; Yuzawa Park has it's Number 1 and Number 7 lifts operating.... always best to check on the official sites for the very latest if you intend to go somewhere just to make sure. The latest Yuzawa Now report can be found here . Good morning from Yuzawa. It has been a rather cloudy beginning to the day today, though in the last hour or so has become brighter and the sun is even shining through at the moment. Perhaps it will turn out fine, though local forecasts have rain penciled in for this afternoon at town level, though hopefully that might be snow at higher elevations. It's has been a fairly chilly morning and a high of around 6 degrees is forecast, and similar for tomorrow. After that Tuesday will probably see rain and then clearer conditions for the rest of the week. Today is the last day of the season for Ludens Yuzawa and the Nunoba are of Yuzawa Kogen in Yuzawa. That's what we have confirmed anyway, with a few resorts seemingly keeping their closing plans secret even at this stage! To the north in Minamiuonuma, today is the last day for Mt Granview, Chateaux Shiozawa, daily operations at Maiko Snow Resort (though they will be opening for the following two weekends), Muikamachi Ski Resort and Muikamachi Hakkaisan. A dusting of snow on some higher mountains areas overnight, though none down to town level and as we approach 10am it is just cloudy here in Yuzawa after a spell of sleet and light snow falling. The local forecast still insists that we might be seeing the sun later on this afternoon so perhaps it is going to clear up. For now though upper slopes at lots of the resorts around town are covered in cloud with fairly poor visibility. Tomorrow it's cloud and a chance of rain. Last day of the season for a few of the small resorts around Yuzawa and Minamiuonuma tomorrow including Hakkaisan, Muikamachi Ski Resort, Mt Granview and Chateaux Shiozawa. The latest Yuzawa Now report can be found here . It's a bit of a damp and wet morning here in Yuzawa. Very light rain has been falling since earlier on - nothing major - and it doesn't seem to be able to decide to continue or not. Resorts around town almost all seem to be reporting 'cloud'.... hmmmm! Lots of fog around this morning too. Hopefully it will completely clear up by afternoon which is what the forecast says will happen. Yesterday was very warm. Up to between 15 and 20 degrees and parts of Niigata to the north got to over 20 degrees. Happily it's cooler this morning and about 5 degrees now. Some of the runs low down by town are looking rather... dirty. Not that pure white fluff that we all love. But, you can still slide down it! Tomorrow the forecast is for cloud and perhaps some sun.
