The latest Shiga Kogen Now report can be found here . Yes, it is snowing still. Again as I write my report it's coming down quite impressively here in the Maruike part of Shiga Kogen. Not a huge amount since yesterday, perhaps 10cm or so, and while the forecasts told us to expect the snow clouds to have stopped doing their thing this morning, it doesn't look like quitting just yet. Not as windy as it has been at the moment though. We are expecting clearer weather soon though. The latest Shiga Kogen Now report can be found here . It has been a cold start to the day here in Shiga Kogen. Snow is falling again which is a contrast to the weather we had yesterday. Quite bright though in some parts of the area with the sun trying to show through thin clouds at times. I was just over at Kumanoyu. Very quiet indeed. Hardly anyone about. It probably goes without saying but if you can get here weekdays rather than much busier weekends you're in for a treat. I know, not possible for many. But I'd go as far as saying worth taking the days off work to get the ski runs to yourself! We are expecting mostly clearer weather for the weekend and into next week too, but it should keep cold for the next few days at least. The latest Shiga Kogen Now report can be found here . Hello and good morning from Shiga Kogen. We had just under 10cm of fresh snow yesterday here in Shiga Kogen. What a lovely mid-April surprise and of course most welcome. It is another cold morning here but will be warming up more as things return to 'spring like' over the coming days. We're still over three and a half weeks away from the remaining resorts due closing date. Ichinose Diamond were planning on continuing but their season is now over. Let's see how the coming weeks go... there's some rain expected by Thursday and with the freezing point way above our peaks we can't really expect it to be snow here unfortunately. Planned late season dates for Shiga Kogen resort areas: Please note that the below dates are all subject to change and of course dependant on snow conditions (and there's less snow than usual this season). We'll try to keep this up-to-date with every new report. Takamagahara Mammoth The quad lift plans to be operating until Sunday 8th May (* Saturdays and Sundays only until 28th April). Ichinose Family The Ichinose quad lift plans to be operating until Sunday 8th May. The Ichinose Number 2 pair B lift plans to be operating until Sunday 8th May. The latest Shiga Kogen Now report can be found here . A good morning to you from Shiga Kogen. So yesterday we saw a number of resort areas open up courses and get lifts moving, and below I have added all of the information available for you for each of the areas open, which are: Ichinose Family, Kumanoyu, Takamagahara Mammoth, Yakebitaiyama and Yokoteyama. This morning lots of cloud about and even a bit of sun as well - the dusting of snow overnight is probably the last that will fall for a number of days now. The general trend this week is for clearer conditions and as we head into the early week expecting sunshine and slightly warmer temperatures. Hopefully it will remain cold enough for the snow that is here to keep. The end of the coming week is looking good for more snow. I'll keep you updated on that as we get closer... The latest Shiga Kogen Now report can be found here . I was just looking at some of the other reports - looks like the weather was pretty bad in many places yesterday. And it was pretty bad here too. But there is good news! Yes, the good news is that the rain turned into snow overnight and there has actually been some snow fall up here in Shiga Kogen. 6cm outside my place and my friend over near Yakebitaiyama is saying nearly 10cm. Nice. Not enough to kick things into action of course but a good end to a bad day! Keep an eye on the forecast for mid week as it's looking promising in terms of snow and a return to proper winter temperatures. Currently (very) limited areas of the Kumanoyu, Yakebitaiyama, Takamagahara Mammoth and Ichinose Family resort areas of Shiga Kogen are open. It is a cold morning and some snow is falling this morning - not a huge amount and it is likely to not last long with clearing conditions expected today. Clearer skies are expected but a more significant snowfall is lined up on the forecast for later Thursday into Friday. Takamagahara are trying to prepare to open their Number 2 lift as well, playing around with the available snow. There's not a whole lot to play with though just now. What we need of course is a decent snowfall. Fingers crossed the end of the week might provide that. Yesterday drizzly sleet 'stuff' was falling in Shiga Kogen, but thankfully early this morning it has turned into something more like what you can call 'snow'. Actually falling quite nicely now. More like it! For the moment it's just a slight cover but if the forecast is right and it snows during the day hopefully we can build up. Snow might ease off tomorrow but hopefully back before Saturday. Depending on how much falls of course, there might well be more of Shiga Kogen open come Saturday... The Okushiga Kogen and Kumanoyu areas of Shiga Kogen are from this season allowing snowboarders as well as skiers. All welcome! The latest Shiga Kogen Now report can be found here . Good morning from Shiga Kogen. And yes it is a good one today with some of nice light snow to report to you. Depending on where you are, around 10-20cm of fresh. Outside my place it was 14cm so that's the number on record. All of the resort areas of Shiga Kogen - apart from the very small Kidoike - are now at least part open, though as you can see from the official snow depth numbers below, it's not 'deep' yet. We still need lots more snow. It has been a really bitty start to the season here (and I see in most other areas as well) and it means that the latest updated information is sometimes difficult to get... some courses opening up during the day without advanced notice. (If you are here the best thing to do is just ask the ticket counters or lift guys for the latest - hopefully they will know!) Snow forecast for the rest of this morning and hopefully into this afternoon but it's due to ease sometime during the day today. After some sunshine maybe tomorrow morning, New Years Eve should bring with it some more snow and fingers crossed it will be snowing as we enter 2016. That would be a good start. The first few days of 2016 are forecast to be slightly milder, but we will of course hope that as is so often the case it will remain cold up here in Shiga Kogen and keep the snow conditions good. The latest Shiga Kogen Now report can be found here . Light snow falling early this morning in Shiga Kogen and another 5cm or so to report. Nice and cold so the conditions are keeping. The local forecast tells us to expect the snowfall to ease as the day goes on and maybe even later get to see some sunshine. Tomorrow should start off with clearer skies too but snow is expected on New Years Eve night and through into 1st January. Clearer weather and slightly less cold temperatures are expected for the first days of the new year, so not a whole lot of snow is expected into early next week. Official Shiga Kogen information has only two small resort areas that are 'fully open' (Ichinose Diamond and Tannenomori Okojo), with all others remaining 'part open' - though a few are fairly close to being fully open. Still, we're not quite there yet as we wait for more snowfall to let that happen.
