Independent snow and weather reporting from the Shiga Kogen region of Nagano

New snowfall at base 4cm
Snowfall at base this season 112cm

Posted on Wednesday 30th December 2015 This is an archived report. The latest Shiga Kogen Now report can be found here.

Light snow falling early this morning in Shiga Kogen and another 5cm or so to report. Nice and cold so the conditions are keeping.

The local forecast tells us to expect the snowfall to ease as the day goes on and maybe even later get to see some sunshine. Tomorrow should start off with clearer skies too but snow is expected on New Years Eve night and through into 1st January.

Clearer weather and slightly less cold temperatures are expected for the first days of the new year, so not a whole lot of snow is expected into early next week.

Official Shiga Kogen information has only two small resort areas that are 'fully open' (Ichinose Diamond and Tannenomori Okojo), with all others remaining 'part open' - though a few are fairly close to being fully open. Still, we're not quite there yet as we wait for more snowfall to let that happen.
