- Madarao Now: Friday 10th February 2017
Independent snow and weather reporting from the Madarao region of Nagano New snowfall at base 18cm Snowfall at base this season 720cm Weather overview Light snow Wind Light Temperature - Visibility Limited Posted on Friday 10th February 2017 This is an archived report. The latest Madarao Now report can be found here . It is another snowy morning in Madarao with a nice new fresh layer of snow on the ground. The resort is reporting 20cm of fresh and I am measuring just less than that, but snow continues to fall and it should be increasing through the day today. It was actually snowing more earlier on, just lightly for the moment. The weekend is approaching of course and so many people will be making their way here. We can expect further snow but it probably won't be heavy and there might even be some changes of clearings at times. It should remain cold though so come prepared for mid-winter conditions. And come expecting some nice snow conditions! Independent snow and weather reporting from the Myoko region of Niigata New snowfall at base 27cm Snowfall at base this season 1117cm Posted on Friday 10th February 2017 This is an archived report. The latest Myoko Now report can be found here . I got called out by some visitors yesterday for missing a few days (thanks for reading, boys!), and, as promised, I got out snowthrowing at 5 am. OK, 5:30, to be completely honest, but your reporter is out there in the snow, gathering data, making life possible for the people of our fair city.... OK, let's talk snow. A pretty good fall overnight, but once again it's hard to tell total fall due to the pretty strong winds out there. The really strong winds have tapered off a bit, but we're still seeing some big gusts and blowing snow. There's a good chance of some lift closure, although nothing has been posted except for the top No. 3 lift at Suginohara, which will open at 10:30. Extra care should be taken offpiste, though, with the wind very likely depositing a lot of snow on lee slopes. Slide danger is definitely higher, and even sluffs shouldn't be ignored (loose sluffs of lots of snow in the wrong place can be a real problem...).There's plenty of powder out there to enjoy, so choose a safe line, have fun and be safe. It's going to be interesting to see how the next 24 hours turn out, and of course I will fill you in on that this time tomorrow. Lots of snow and it should be another great upcoming weekend. The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here . Good morning from Nozawa. There's another 6cm of snow to report from the yesterday morning and the resort is reporting 5-7cm with none further overnight. Independent snow and weather reporting from the Furano region of Hokkaido New snowfall at base 3cm Snowfall at base this season 451cm Posted on Wednesday 8th February 2017 This is an archived report. The latest Furano Now report can be found here . It was good to see some new snowfall on the ground this morning even if it was on the light side, totaling 3cm. During the morning there were flakes of snow slowly falling down from the sky, but the precipitation just wasn't enough to add any further accumulation. There is some mist and cloud rolling a third of the way down the mountain on the Kitanomine side and half way down on the Furano Zone side, so there may be a little flat light around the tops. The sun should appear tomorrow and from the forecast it looks like there will be little if any wind. Not a huge amount since yesterday but another decent blanket reset I would imagine on the slopes. Good news this morning is less wind and so nicer conditions to be out on the slopes. We're not expecting a whole lot of snowfall today, perhaps just light snow. The heavier snowfall is due back tomorrow night though and snowy conditions should continue into the weekend too.
