  • Niseko Now: Wednesday 29th November 2023

Independent snow and weather reporting from the Niseko region of Hokkaido New snowfall at base 5cm Snowfall at base this season 101cm Posted on Wednesday 29th November 2023 This is an archived report. The latest Niseko Now report can be found here I am happy to report that after the rain yesterday, it feels much colder this morning, and it is snowing and quite windy too. As of just before 9am, I have another 5cm of fresh snowfall to report to you. There should be more over the next few days, hopefully, quite a lot more! As I write this, it looks like it is snowing heavily at Hanazono, though it is less so here and there is even a little sunshine further away from the ski area bases. OK, so Niseko Village hopes to open on Friday (the day after tomorrow!), with the other ski areas following on Saturday. I will let you know when there are any announcements! The concerned people are probably looking at forecasts, looking outside the window, talking to their colder colleagues checking the mountain and, most importantly, thoughtfully stroking their chins (with suitably serious expressions) as they ponder their decisions. Let us ponder. -------------------- 1PM update As the Niseko folks continue to ponder, the following ski areas in Hokkaido have announced plans to open from tomorrow: Kurodake Rusutsu Resort Sapporo Kokusai There may well end up being others, but that's what I have for you today! ---------- Planned opening date:1st December 2023: Niseko Village Ski Resort Planned opening date: 2nd December 2023: Niseko Annupuri Kokusai Niseko Moiwa Ski Resort Niseko HANAZONO Resort Niseko Tokyu Grand Hirafu Planned opening date: unconfirmed (probably late December): Asahigaoka Niseko Now 2023-2024 season Data as of Wednesday 29th November 2023 Total snowfall at base so far 101cm Number of days snowfall observed at base 10 days Most snowfall observed in 1 day 20cm (14th November) November 2023 snowfall 101cm reported on 10 days Previous report Next report All snowfall data presented on this page is the snowfall measured and observed at base/town level by our reporter based in Kutchan/Niseko. • Niseko Now: Monday 27th November 2023

Independent snow and weather reporting from the Niseko region of Hokkaido New snowfall at base 15cm Snowfall at base this season 96cm Posted on Monday 27th November 2023 This is an archived report. The latest Niseko Now report can be found here Good morning from Niseko. We're back into double figures of fresh snowfall this morning (how we like it), and I have just measured 15cm. As I write this, the sun has appeared in places, but it has generally just been cloudy, with light snow still falling in some areas. So, a mixed bag of weather conditions early morning. It will be milder during the day today and tomorrow, and it seems we might have to put up with some rain (tomorrow). While rain is always annoying to see when we get to winter, remember, the people in the know often say it's a good thing for a new base of snow to get some rain. It should be colder by Wednesday, and the snow should be falling again, perhaps heavy at times. Hopefully, if we get snow through the end of the week, that will mean ski area openings going ahead as planned this coming weekend. It sounds like a plan! ---------- Planned opening date:1st December 2023: Niseko Village Ski Resort Planned opening date: 2nd December 2023: Niseko Annupuri Kokusai Niseko Moiwa Ski Resort Niseko HANAZONO Resort Niseko Tokyu Grand Hirafu Planned opening date: unconfirmed (probably late December): Asahigaoka Niseko Now 2023-2024 season Data as of Monday 27th November 2023 Total snowfall at base so far 96cm Number of days snowfall observed at base 9 days Most snowfall observed in 1 day 20cm (14th November) November 2023 snowfall 96cm reported on 9 days Previous report Next report All snowfall data presented on this page is the snowfall measured and observed at base/town level by our reporter based in Kutchan/Niseko.
