Some ski areas are heading into the 2026-2027 winter season with new official names.

• GALA Yuzawa Snow Resort (Niigata Prefecture) becomes GALA YUZAWA MOUNTAIN FIELD.

  
  

• Ski Jam Katsuyama (Fukui Prefecture) becomes JAM Katsuyama Mountain Resort.

• Rewild Ninja Snow Highland (Nagano Prefecture) becomes Minenohara Kogen.

  This one is interesting. The ski area dates back to 1973 and, until 2020, was known as Minenohara Kogen, so it is now reverting to its long-established name!

• Minowa (Fukushima Prefecture) becomes Inawashiro Minowa.

  Minowa has been closed for a few years, but will be at least partly re-opening for the 2026-2027 season. Our Minowa listing will be updated to reflect the new name and details soon.

Two of the new names use capital letters in a particular way. As explained in our Common Japanese ski area names guide, on SnowJapan we respect the official name used by each ski area, including its chosen capitalisation.
