This news topic covers confirmed changes to ski lifts at Japanese ski areas for the 2026-2027 season, including new, replacement and significantly upgraded lifts, removals, and notable changes to lift operations.
Changes to ski lifts are expected at a handful of ski areas for the coming season. Confirmed information is still limited at this stage, and this page will be updated as we become aware of further official information.
Daisetsuzan Sounkyo Kurodake (Hokkaido)
New cabins were installed on the ropeway at the end of June 2026, replacing the previous cabins ahead of the 2026-2027 winter season. The ropeway serves the ski area during the winter season and also operates outside the winter months.
Sannokura (Fukushima Prefecture)
Only the upper Number 2 lift is planned to operate during the 2026-2027 season. The lower Number 1 lift will not operate as Kitakata City considers the future operation of the ski area and ways to reduce maintenance costs. The lift has not been removed, and operating plans for future seasons have not yet been decided.
Shiga Kogen Takamagahara Mammoth (Nagano Prefecture)
The Takamagahara Mammoth Number 3 pair lift was removed from Takamagahara Mammoth in Shiga Kogen in August 2026. Its removal does not affect the available ski terrain.
