Uonuma city is located just to the north of Minamiuonuma and Yuzawa in Niigata Prefecture. There are 6 ski and snowboard resorts scattered around the mountains of Uonuma and while getting to them may not be as convenient as some other resorts to the south, the region enjoys very heavy snowfall each winter.
Niigata Prefecture is located in the central region of Honshu to the north of Tokyo and has a 250km long coastline facing the Sea of Japan. Convenient transportation links make Niigata very easy to get to from Tokyo and other surrounding regions. Most of the larger ski and snowboard resorts in Niigata Prefecture are concentrated in the southern regions around Yuzawa town, Minamiuonuma city and Myoko city.
There is no ski hill shuttle bus, but a local bus stops fairly close.
A taxi ride from Koide Station costs 1,300 - 1,500 yen.
