Hiraya Kogen is located just to the south of the main Hiraya village area in the south-western region of Nagano Prefecture. There are two pair lifts and one rope tow lift at Hiraya Kogen. The ski hills in this region are within easy reach of the Aichi, Gifu and Shizuoka areas.
Nagano Prefecture is located in the Chubu region of the main island of Honshu. Most of the Northern Alps, Central Alps and Southern Alps are located within Nagano (along with neighbouring prefectures). Nagano has the second highest number of ski and snowboard resorts in all of Japan and they are spread around the whole prefecture. Nagano city and many of the major ski resorts are located in the northern region.

There is a 'Kids Park' with a moving walkway (with tickets available for that 'snow conveyer', open on weekends). There is a 'Kids Park' entry charge of 500 yen (free for under 3 year olds). There is also a sledging area that is free to use.
There is a quarter pipe and a few items by the D Course.

The base of Hiraya Kogen is right by the side of Route 153, otherwise known as the Sanshu Highway, just to the south of the central area of Hiraya village.
The Iida Yamamoto IC and Sonohara IC to the north of the ski hill are the nearest exits on the Chuo Expressway. From that area take Route 153 to the south and follow the road to reach Hiraya Kogen.
