Adatara Kogen is located on the eastern slopes of Mt Adatara to the west of central Nihonmatsu city in the northern region of Fukushima Prefecture. The resort is just over 5km to the north west of the main Dake Onsen hot springs area. A shuttle bus operates between Dake Onsen and the ski hill. Adatara Kogen has been operating since 1964.
Fukushima Prefecture is composed of three main regions - the Hamadori region to the east (including the Pacific Ocean coastline), the Nakadori region (the central area) and the Aizu region (the Western mountainous region). Many of the ski and snowboard resorts in the prefecture are found on or near Mt Bandai and Mt Adatara to the north of Lake Inawashiro. Most of the others can be found scattered across the western region of the Aizu region or to the south-west of Lake Inawashiro.
Ski and snowboard lessons are available at Adatara Kogen. Snowshoe lessons are also available.
Ski and snowboard equipment rental is available. Wear, snowshoes and other items are also available to rent.
There are a few yuki-asobi (play in the snow) areas located near the base of Adatara Kogen. This area is separate from the main runs and so offers safety for young children to play in the snow.
The 'Wanpaku 1' Kids Park area is a snow tubing and sledging area (skiing and snowboarding in this area is possible only on weekdays). It is open from 9am until 4pm on weekends and holidays and from 10am until 3pm on weekdays. The snow escalator costs 800 yen to use and snow tubing costs 100 yen for one time and 500 yen for six times.
The 'Wanpaku 2' Kids Park area is a small ski and snowboard practice area. It is open from 9:00am until 4:00pm on weekends only. The snow escalator costs 800 yen (but can be used for free for people with 1 day and 4 hour lift tickets).
There is a Board Park area located on the lower area of the resort.
There is also a snowshoe park area.
