It took a while to happen, but that rain yesterday morning turned into snow in the afternoon, and this morning we have a good layer of fresh snow. 34cm can go onto our report.

In terms of weather yesterday ended up feeling a bit strange, to this reporter anyway.

Snow was falling for a lot of yesterday - heavily at times - but there was more snow overnight.

Good morning from Yuzawa and Merry Christmas. Santa is here in Yuzawa and can probably be found at a few ski areas during the day.

Yesterday it was snowing on and off for a fair part of the day, though it wasn't the same kind of snowfall as it had been - less intense and just 4cm to report from it, plus a slight dusting overnight.

Guess what? Yep, you guessed it. It's still snowing.

More relentless snowfall during the day yesterday and overnight.

After the relentless snow of the previous few days, it was good to be able to have a kind of break from it yesterday.

The snow continued yesterday and though it was not quite as heavy and persistent as it had been the previous few days, there's another measured 38cm to add to the report this morning.

Since my report yesterday for the most part we have had more of the same. Snowfall, heavy at times, piling up quickly.

It has been a wild and crazy few days in Yuzawa and Minamiuonuma with some very heavy snowfall... real 'Snow Country' style snowfall.

What a difference just one day can make!

I had flashbacks of last season overnight when I was woken by heavy rain on the roof. But it has turned to snow and the forecast is still looking really good. (Phew!)

Some rain last night and this morning there is a lot of cloud around but some blue sky and we are expecting a high of around 10C in town.
