Independent snow and weather reporting from the Zao region of Yamagata

New snowfall at base 9cm
Snowfall at base this season 326cm

Posted on Tuesday 9th February 2021 This is an archived report. The latest Zao Now report can be found here.

Still foggy down to base and today is cold (about -10C at base). Although the snow is light, it is accumulating, albeit not a huge amount, but every centimetre counts.

Lower down, there does not seem to be any wind but, reported to be variable higher up.

Tomorrow should be clearer as well as on Thursday which is a national holiday in Japan. The long weekend appears to be in for some good weather if anyone is still contemplating coming up (bear in mind that many places may be already full) but there may be a rainy spell on Sunday afternoon (then followed by snow in the evening).
