Amazing what a bit of snow can do. Yesterday, the first lift of the season started moving! There's not that much snow out there (30cm according to the resort) and not much course area open, but the Chuo Number 1 pair lift is operating and part of the Chuo area at Zao Onsen is open.

I'll bring you more details on Tuesday, when we will get the Zao Now reports into 'daily mode'.

Welcome to the 12/13 season!

All snowfall data presented on this page is the snowfall measured and observed at base/town level by our reporter based in Zao Onsen. The 'new snowfall' number represents the amount of snow measured since the previous report. All opinions are those of the individual reporters. Information regarding ski area operations is manually checked every morning and is believed to be correct at the time of the report.
