Independent snow and weather reporting from the Zao region of Yamagata
New snowfall at base 5cm
Snowfall at base this season 280cm

More fresh snow last night and the slopes are nice.
A bit murky in the usual places (Paradise/Utopia/Hyakumannin) but otherwise just fog restricting long range views.
Expect it to snow lightly throughout the day with more coming overnight to usher in Sunday.
Wind is less than originally anticipated, however, there are or will be strong winds around. Not sure how this will affect the second stage Zao Ropeway or Kurohime Quad.
Personally, I wouldn't bother going up to the summit today - there is plenty elsewhere with better visibility and less people. Those staying here longer than the weekend, make the most of the Ryuzan (far left) and top Yokokura lifts as they only operate on the weekend/public holidays.
