Independent snow and weather reporting from the Zao region of Yamagata

New snowfall at base 2cm
Snowfall at base this season 393cm

Posted on Sunday 26th February 2023 This is an archived report. The latest Zao Now report can be found here.

A small amount last night but together with yesterday's keeps the higher slopes softer.

It is brightening earlier than expected but the tops are still in fog albeit not that bad to see the terrain as you go.

Expect high winds today so look out for potential closures. Those still here tomorrow, don't forget that the Ryuzan slopes (far left) are only open on the weekend/long weekends and are worth going to.

Light snow showers may be prevalent throughout the day which will add but not a lot. We need it as temperatures and blue skies are expected early in the week.

Official snow depth:

- Summit: 185cm

- Paradise: 200cm

- Chuo: 200cm

- Utopia: 195cm

- Uwanodai: 130cm
