Independent snow and weather reporting from the Zao region of Yamagata

New snowfall at base 2cm
Snowfall at base this season 230cm

Posted on Tuesday 24th January 2023 This is an archived report. The latest Zao Now report can be found here.

A better morning than anticipated. It is clear all round although cloud is now drifting on and off the summit.

Slight wind about.

Top tip for those here over the next few days: make the most of the tops and Kurohime Quad as it is highly likely that many top lifts will stop tomorrow. Very high winds are expected.

It should start clouding up during the day with light to moderate snow starting to fall and through tomorrow. Temperatures are also going to plummet drastically so wrap up.

Slopes are nice!
