Independent snow and weather reporting from the Zao region of Yamagata

New snowfall at base 4cm
Snowfall at base this season 406cm

Posted on Friday 10th February 2017 This is an archived report. The latest Zao Now report can be found here.

A few cm of snow on the ground this morning.

It doesn't seem as cold this morning (though still just under zero here are base) and while it was just cloudy earlier the snow is back now.

Regular snowfall still on the forecast for the weekend, along with some moderate winds at times. It's going to keep cold and with any wind probably feel colder than the headline numbers, so if you are coming for the weekend come prepared for mid-season snowy conditions.

All lifts apart from the following appear to be operating today:

Paradise Number 3 pair

Karamatsu pair

All courses apart from Kotan are open.

Official snow depths (as published by the resort itself):

Summit - 125cm

Paradise - 210cm

Chuo - 210cm

Utopia - 160cm

Uwanodai - 125cm
