Independent snow and weather reporting from the Yuzawa & Minamiuonuma region of Niigata

New snowfall at base 14cm
Snowfall at base this season 16cm

Posted on Sunday 9th December 2018 This is an archived report. The latest Yuzawa Now report can be found here.

Oh yes, is it really great to see snow on the ground and it continuing to fall from the skies. Our measuring point shows 14cm, and it's coming down nicely as of 8:30am. The forecasts seems to say moderate snowfall during the morning, perhaps lighter later on and tomorrow. Temps set to get a little milder around mid-week (hopefully not too much) before dropping again by the end of the week.

Kagura resort are reporting 20-30cm and so that will really inject some freshness into the slopes up there. They are still opening the main course with the Family course, and with continued snowfall we should expect more to open soon.

Perhaps a bit surprising but the opening of Tashiro has been delayed... until Saturday 15th December (when it will open at 7:30am).

It's really important that we get a lot of snow over the next run of days with a number of ski resorts getting ready and hoping to open next weekend.

Bring it on, we say.
