Independent snow and weather reporting from the Yuzawa & Minamiuonuma region of Niigata

New snowfall at base 1cm
Snowfall at base this seas 275cm

Posted on Thursday 30th December 2021 This is an archived report. The latest Yuzawa Now report can be found here.

The sun was out yesterday and it actually warmed things up a bit. Felt rather mild and indeed this morning many of the official snow depth numbers reported by the ski areas have decreased.

This morning ski areas are reporting a few cm of new snowfall overnight:

Ishiuchi Maruyama: 5cm

Maiko Snow Resort: 5cm

Yuzawa Kogen: 5cm

Kagura: 3cm

There was just a thin layer to move from the car this morning.

It still feels mild and we there is a chance we get some rain during the day today as it warms up to around +3C in town. But even if we do get that, it shouldn't last long and it should be snowing by tonight with a few days of snowfall expected tomorrow and the day after.

All being well, we might be some more big snow numbers to report in the next few reports.
