Independent snow and weather reporting from the Yuzawa & Minamiuonuma region of Niigata
New snowfall at base 2cm
Snowfall at base this season 639cm
Posted on Sunday 2nd March 2014 This is an archived report. The latest Yuzawa Now report can be found here.
A splashing of snow overnight here, though just 1cm on the top of my car where it was parked in the Ishiuchi area just outside of Yuzawa. Resorts around town are reporting from a few cm to up to 5cm of snow overnight.
Earlier on it was actually raining here but that was short-lived and it is just cloudy now.
Hearing varied reports from people out on the slopes yesterday. Ranging from really poor snow conditions to not so bad higher up. Certainly far from great and very spring like conditions at the moment until we hopefully get a March topup. Will it happen? Tuesday aside when it's due to be sunny, there is snow forecast each day to the end of the week and so there are signs of hope. Temps will be borderline mild though until around Thursday when things should get colder again.
