Independent snow and weather reporting from the Yuzawa & Minamiuonuma region of Niigata

New snowfall at base 2cm
Snowfall at base this season 91cm

Posted on Tuesday 25th December 2018 This is an archived report. The latest Yuzawa Now report can be found here.

Good morning from Yuzawa and Happy Christmas!

It is of course Christmas morning and the sun is out. Early on, the mountains are looking beautiful and there is a ice-frosted look to the trees outside my place.

We had a bit of snow falling yesterday and while it didn't amount to much down at town level, there has been some fresh on the mountains... more to be found the higher up you go. The only reports of fresh snow that I can find early on this morning is 5cm reported by Ishiuchi Maruyama.

We are set for a fine day today, perhaps clouding over later on and with a high of around +4C. Feels a bit windy.

On to that forecast - and it is still looking very snowy indeed with snow lined up daily from late tomorrow into New Year. We could be in for some major snowfall which is exactly what we want.

Really looking forward to that. Big numbers please. Don't let us down, Nature! (We love you!) :)

Have a great day everyone.
