Independent snow and weather reporting from the Yuzawa & Minamiuonuma region of Niigata

New snowfall at base 4cm
Snowfall at base this season 934cm

Posted on Thursday 23rd March 2017 This is an archived report. The latest Yuzawa Now report can be found here.

Hello and good morning from Yuzawa.

It's really nice to see a layer of snow on the ground and on top of the car this morning... around 3-5cm around town areas, with more on the slopes as you go higher.

Here is what resorts are reporting:

Kagura (Kagura Area and Mitsumata Area) - 10cm

Kagura (Tashiro) - 20cm

Maiko Snow Resort - 10-15cm

There's a lot of cloud around still, but things look like they might be clearing up and the sun is starting to show through.

So it should be a good early morning with that fresh snow to play in. Still a chance of more snow tonight and tomorrow as well according to the forecasts.

Things should clear up for the weekend with fine weather currently forecast.
