Independent snow and weather reporting from the Yuzawa & Minamiuonuma region of Niigata

New snowfall at base 55cm
Snowfall at base this seas 143cm

Posted on Saturday 23rd December 2023 This is an archived report. The latest Yuzawa Now report can be found here.

Very good news! Over 50cm of fresh snow, both in Yuzawa town areas and Ishiuchi just to the north of Yuzawa.

We're currently enjoying some blue sky and sunshine, but there might be more snow during the day. In fact, it is still snowing in the valley north of Yuzawa (and there is a lot of fast-moving cloud).

This wonderful gift of fresh snowfall is letting ski areas open up this morning. A lot is changing and so some of the information below might already be out-of-date. Luckily, I'll be back tomorrow with another update. But basically, most ski areas are now at least part open.

NASPA Ski Garden and Ipponsugi Snow Park both plan to be open from tomorrow.
