Independent snow and weather reporting from the Yuzawa & Minamiuonuma region of Niigata

New snowfall at base 5cm
Snowfall at base this season 793cm

Posted on Friday 21st March 2014 This is an archived report. The latest Yuzawa Now report can be found here.

Up to 5-10cm of new snow being reported from the resorts this morning. (Just 2cm on my car). It may not be a huge number of course, but it will go some way to cover up the damage that was done yesterday with some heavy rain at times. We could really do with a lot more to cover that up of course, and there is some hope that today we will be getting somewhere towards that.

It is snowing now and forecast to continue for the day. Colder as well than it has been as you might expect.

Some windy conditions on the mountains as well today and because of those the Tashiro area of Kagura is closed for the day. Kagura is only open from the Mitsumata Ropeway to the Kagura Number 1 pair lift. GALA Yuzawa have said that the wind conditions may affect lifts later on but for the moment they are open as normal as are other resorts around town.
