Independent snow and weather reporting from the Yuzawa & Minamiuonuma region of Niigata
New snowfall at base 15cm
Snowfall at base this seas 880cm

Good morning from Yuzawa.
After some beautiful clear and sunny skies during the day, we got some 'wet' in the evening, but...
This morning it is good to be able to report some fresh snowfall. 15-20cm around town and a bit higher, with a bit less to the north in Minamiuonuma. It looks like this time there has been more snow in the southern areas of the town.
It's another of those mornings where it would be really good for ski areas to say how much fresh snow they received overnight, but I cannot find any. Not one. :(
I'm guessing there might be a decent fresh layer in higher elevations.
The snow may continue this morning but will likely stop sometime during the day. It is currently just under -2C.
We expect those several days of generally clearer skies and a fairly warm weekend.
Wind might have been a problem today and while it didn't feel particularly bad out there earlier on, Kagura is only going to be opening the Mitsumata Area at the start of the day. The Tashiro Area will be closed and the Kagura Area status is 'postponed'. (Don't bet on it being open).
As far as I can tell, all other ski areas are going to be open as scheduled.
