Independent snow and weather reporting from the Yuzawa & Minamiuonuma region of Niigata
New snowfall at base 3cm
Snowfall at base this season 318cm
Posted on Saturday 18th January 2014 This is an archived report. The latest Yuzawa Now report can be found here.
Just a thin layer of snow on the top of the car this morning here in Ishiuchi just to the north of Yuzawa (which is where I am this morning), but it will be pretty much the same a few km to the south. Looking around the resorts this morning, resorts are reporting up to 5cm apart from Kagura which pulls through with 20cm being reported, presumably up top. That's where the fresh is this morning my friends!
Weather wise the skies have cleared and it's bright and sunny as of 9:30am. Snow is forecast to be falling by the time the ski lifts close for the day today and also tomorrow. If the forecasts are to be believed, we might see a decent amount of snow overnight meaning tomorrow should be particularly good. Tuesday is also looking interesting snow-wise.
It's a peak season Saturday of course, so it should be busy out there at the all the popular places.
